Good afternoon !

We are always looking for ways for us to improve and move forward, on recent feedback regarding the phone lines and missed calls we have implemented a What's App contact for the garage, to be used throughout the day for vehicle progress, updates and new bookings. This allows us to contact you and for a reply to be received at a time convenient for both parties

Good morning and a happy new year to you all !

The team return to action this morning after the festive break. As you can imagine the phone line will be inundated today as we deal with bookings and requests. We have opened nearly 100 missed calls on the garage landline alongside our own personal mobiles and trade customers already today

Festive Holiday

It seems bizarre to be writing this already, yet alone saying it to customers leaving the garage over the past few days!

The garage will close next Tuesday, 23rd December and re-open Monday January 5th. Leaving Just FIVE working days left for 2025

The diary for repair work until then is now fully booked, while we may be able to accommodate the odd MOT, anything that now fails with a sizeable list of repairs will risk being off the road until the new year

Wet Belt

"It's well serviced"

This isn't a belt from a 15 year old car, this is a 2020 Vauxhall Corsa with less than 40,000 miles on the clock

Serviced 4,591 miles
Serviced 10,760 miles
Serviced 20,636 miles
Serviced 32,829 miles

Wet Belt failure 39,195 miles. This is the deteriorated belt removed after a blocked oil strainer caused oil pressure faults and an engine management fault. The customer did not hesitate on the advice of DO NOT DRIVE

Modern engines are no longer as robust as previous generations and will require more stringent maintenance, these wet belts have now dropped to first replacement at 62,500 miles/72 months and are still failing well in advance of the recommended manufacturers guidelines in vehicles we consider well serviced

This is now common on PSA engines with PURETEC engines. This is also found in the Vauxhall Corsa, Mokka, Crossland, Grandland etc.

Full replacement carried out and oil change carried out with manufacturer recommended 5w30 Stellantis 'Wet belt' oil

Bookings, drop offs and collection

Good morning, there has been a significant rise in vehicles being dropped at the garage without a prior booking, either via a breakdown or in too far advance of a booking. Unless this is something that is discussed prior, it's something we simply cannot accommodate moving into the busiest time of the year

In the last 48 hrs we have seen a minimum of 12 hours of abour added to the diary where our availability was ZERO for the next 5 working days. This creates a number of challenging factors, but ultimately results in poor customer satisfaction as we are unable to meet such an on demand service, we would rather manage your expectations with the very first contact

Our preference is that your vehicle is dropped the morning of your booking, somewhere between 8.30am-9.30am. Pre drop off as close to 5pm the previous evening may also be discussed as this allows an immediate start to the working day (especially MOTs)

At the other end of the interaction, your vehicle must be collected promptly where possible and certainly the same working day.

40 vehicles crossing over in 30 spaces daily is our responsibility to manage but we need you to play your part in the role as the customer so we can continue delivering the service we believe you all deserve

Our current lead times are 7 days for MOT (this does not include any additional repair work) and approximately 10 days for remedial and follow up work. Lead times for larger jobs in excess of 4hrs labour will be managed on an ad-hoc basis and around staff availability
