🔨 End of Week Progress Update 🔨
Another massive week completed on this full renovation project, with some huge structural milestones achieved this week 💪🏡
From the very beginning, safety and preparation were key. The roof structure and surrounding areas of the house were fully supported before any demolition works began, allowing us to safely remove the existing supporting walls and both chimney structures without movement or damage to the property 🏗️
✅ Full temporary supports installed to safely carry the roof and upper floor loads while structural alterations were carried out.
✅ Existing supporting walls and chimneys carefully removed to completely open up the downstairs living space and create a much brighter open-plan layout 🔨
✅ New structural steel beam successfully installed exactly as specified by the structural engineer’s drawings, 💪
✅ Licensed asbestos removal completed to the ceiling areas prior to continuing internal works, ensuring the site remained safe and compliant throughout ⚠️
✅ Rotten and damaged kitchen flooring fully stripped out, including removal of the old failing timbers.
✅ Brand new floor joists installed throughout the kitchen area, followed by 18mm plywood flooring fitted over the top to create a strong and level base ready for the next stages 🔧
✅ Ceilings were counter battened throughout to provide additional strength.
✅ First fix electrics now fully installed and in position, ready for the next phase of the renovation ⚡
✅ All walls and ceilings fully plasterboarded, with the newly installed steel beam fire boarded to meet current building regulations 🔥
✅ Both rooms fully plastered throughout and now completely transformed, leaving everything smooth and ready for second fix and finishing works 🙌
Monday we’ll be back on site laying the final finish ply flooring in preparation for the new kitchen installation and finished flooring 👌🏽

🔨 Work Week Summary 🔨

This week the team got started on an exciting new project for a customer in beautiful Perranporth 🌊🏡

We’ve been carefully carrying out the structural works to completely transform the space and make the most of those incredible coastal views 👌🌅

So far we have: ✔️ Removed both chimneys either side of the supporting wall
✔️ Prepared the area ready for the next stage of structural alterations
✔️ Ensured everything was carried out safely and efficiently by the lads on site 💪

Tomorrow the asbestos team will be in to safely remove the remaining materials, ready for us to crack on with removing the supporting wall and opening up the kitchen into one stunning open-plan space 🔨✨

Can’t wait to show the progress on this one over the next few weeks 👀

Feeling incredibly honoured to have been part of these special projects for Feock Parish Council⁠

We were asked to create a base for an information point where visitors can stop, take in the beautiful scenery of Devoran, and learn more about the local area — right beside a bench we previously installed 🌿🌊

We also had the privilege of creating and fitting a memorial bench in loving memory of Mr & Mrs Ferris, perfectly positioned to overlook such a stunning view 🕊️✨

Projects like these mean so much to us, and we’re absolutely over the moon with how everything turned out 🙌

A few weeks ago:

Another failed GRP roof replaced with a proper tried & tested 3-layer felt system 💪🏽🏠
This roof had been leaking badly, so we stripped it back and rebuilt it the right way — installing new insulation, vapour control barrier, 18mm ply decking and a brand new high-performance felt system on top ✅
The weather definitely wasn’t on our side 🌧️ but the lads pushed through a few tough days to get everything watertight again, including repairing all internal walls and ceilings damaged by the leaks 👏🏼

Another one wrapped up after the team put in a solid shift over the weekend 💪🏽🏠

We stripped off the old slates that had previously been badly repaired and painted over, then completely renewed the damaged roof timbers.
✅ New breathable felt
✅ New treated battens
✅ Finished with stunning Brazilian grey/green slate for a clean, long-lasting finish

The difference speaks for itself 👌🏽

Work Week Summary – Basement Project Completion 🏗️✨

This week we completed the full basement renovation, delivering a bright, functional, and fully compliant space. 💡
All plastering was finished to a smooth, high-quality standard, preparing the entire area for decoration and leaving every surface clean and even. 🎨 The kitchenette was fully fitted, including units, worktop, sink, plumbing, and electrics, with all adjustments completed for a precise finish. 🍽️🔧

The bathroom is now fully installed and working, with the toilet, basin, shower, and ventilation tested and operating perfectly. 🚿🧼 Due to the basement level, we fitted a macerator to ensure all waste water is pumped efficiently to the main system—fully connected and tested for reliable performance. 💧⚙️

All electrical works were signed off, confirming full compliance with UK regulations. ⚡✔️ Lighting, sockets, and appliance feeds were completed and certified. Skirting and architrave were installed throughout, adding clean finishing lines and completing the internal aesthetic. 🪵✨

Finally, we fitted full glass fire-rated doors to maximise natural light while maintaining safety regulations. 🚪🔥 These transform the feel of the basement, keeping it bright, open, and modern. 🌟

🏗️ Weekly Work Summary 🏗️

This week we began a brand new basement refurbishment project! 👷‍♂️

Our first task was to lift the existing steel beam as high as possible using acro props — giving the basement much-needed extra head height. We then fitted strong joist hangers, twist nails, and suitable padstones for long-term support and stability. 💪

Next, we studded out the walls ready for insulation 🪚 and built a new staircase linking the basement directly to the existing property — providing easy access without having to go outside. 🚶‍♂️

We also installed a new fuse board with all new electrics, ⚡ and completed all plumbing work throughout the basement. 💧

To finish the week, we laid a radon barrier across the floor, ready for screeding tomorrow. ✅

A great start to the project — solid progress made on both structural and first-fix stages! 🔩

September Project Recap 🔨✨

This month we completely transformed this space into something really special! Our clients didn’t want a conventional kitchen, so we created a beautiful makeshift kitchen that’s full of character and suits their lifestyle perfectly.

We opened the whole area right up — knocking through the old walls, taking down the chimney, and adding extra ceiling joists for strength. We then studded out the walls and added insulation to make sure everything feels solid, warm, and energy efficient.

To brighten up the room even more, we fitted stunning big patio sliders that lead out onto a brand-new balcony — the perfect spot to sit out and enjoy the view 🌿☀️

We also built a lovely new bathroom with everything our clients needed, combining practicality with a clean, modern finish.

Another amazing transformation and some very happy customers! 🙌

Work Week Summary

This week saw a strong push toward final completion, with both internal finishes and external landscaping brought together to deliver a polished, cohesive result:

Painting & Decorating: All remaining painting and decorating was completed throughout the property. This included final coats to walls, ceilings, woodwork, and trims, leaving each room fully finished and ready for client use. Touch-ups were made where needed, and a full clean-down ensured the presentation was at a professional standard.

Rear Patio & Slabbed Steps: A brand new patio area was constructed outside the rear doors, using high-quality slabs laid on a compacted sub-base with a full mortar bed. This included carefully slabbed steps up to the doors to ensure a safe, level transition and enhance the usability of the outdoor space for entertaining or relaxing.

Gravel Pathway: A new gravel pathway was created to link the patio and side access. This involved edging for definition and containment, a w**d membrane base, and a fresh layer of compacted decorative gravel. The result is a tidy, low-maintenance walkway that improves site access and overall appearance.

Picket Fence Installation: A traditional-style picket fence was installed to create a clear and attractive boundary along part of the garden, each panel was aligned and secured for a neat and consistent finish. The fence not only adds character but also improves privacy and security.

Hanging of Oak Internal Doors: High-quality oak doors were hung throughout the interior, including fitting new hinges, latches, and handles. Each door was carefully aligned to meet clean and tight margins, contributing to the premium finish of the internal joinery.

Front Pathway Restoration: To complete the front of the property, we matched and extended the original pathway using materials that blend seamlessly with the existing. Attention was given to levels, alignment, and finish to maintain the traditional appearance.

Floor Tiling Commenced: To finish the project, we have now begun tiling the floor. This is the final phase of work. Once completed, the job will be fully finished and ready for handover.
