Inspiring architectural design made easy.

We’ve recently been exploring the external material palette for one of our projects currently under construction in Clapham. The project involves the extension and renovation of an existing house to create three new flats, carefully reworking the building’s fabric while responding to its character and context.

The house is built in London stock brick, and for the new loft extension we’re proposing a dark tile cladding to complement the warm yellow tones of the original masonry. We’ve been testing materials on site and refining the palette as the project takes shape, to create a cohesive exterior that feels both contemporary and rooted in its setting.

At the top of this London home, bespoke bookshelves are seamlessly integrated into the reimagined interior to create a calm and cosy room.

Crafted in warm timber, the joinery enhances both storage and display, while complementing the natural character of the entire project.

A standout feature at Stem House is the repositioned staircase, which now serves as a central focal point that floods the space with natural light, enhancing the flow and atmosphere of the entire home.

Throughout the property, warm timber spindles echo the stems of flowers, creating a cohesive and inviting ambiance.

For this terraced house near Columbia Road in East London, the refurbishment focused on reimagining the interior layout and creating bespoke joinery tailored to the clients’ needs and style.

Thoughtful spatial rearrangement and custom-built solutions ensure a balance between practicality and aesthetics, modernising the home while preserving its original charm.

Planning success in Finsbury Park!

Detailed, impactful and considered design is crucial to a successful planning application.
Drawing on the context of late Victorian terraces, the rear façade reinterprets familiar forms with a contemporary edge. Architectural rhythms, hierarchies and scales reinterpret and subtly exaggerate traditional forms.
A palette of stone and timber cladding complements the yellow London stock brick and the existing decorative lintel detailing.

Planning success in Finsbury Park!

As part of our planning process and studio approach, we developed detailed key junctions, looking closely at how different cladding systems work with our standard details; timber and steel frame construction, wood fibre insulation, and breathable lime plaster.

As always, we focus on performance, internal comfort, and the overall health of our buildings. These details illustrate a continuous thermal line, addressing potential cold bridges while maintaining breathability through the use of natural materials and a minimised construction build-up.

Planning success in Finsbury Park!

We’ve officially secured permission for a two-storey rear extension on a beautiful late 19th-century Victorian terrace. By playing on the forms, rhythms and distinct material palette of the surrounding area, we’re proposing a seamless blend of heritage and modern design.

This project seeks to unlock the full potential of the traditional terrace house. Reimagining the layout to work with the ever-changing needs of modern day family life.

Project on site, a sneak peak into a loft extension in Wapping. In March, the project has evolved from exposed steel, timber and brickwork into calm, light-filled spaces with carefully framed views. Every inch is considered, with openings reaching upward to pull light deep into the home.

We build sustainability into everything we do.

This project showcases the low-impact and natural materials we champion. Here FSC timber, wood fibre insulation, and lime plaster all shape a healthier, considered home.
