We are thrilled to share some photos of a project completed and handed over today for Caterpillar in Desford, Leicestershire.

The project consisted of the complete fit-out of the offices and warehouse to the client’s specification including a mezzanine floor, racking, sprinkler protection, fire detection and fire alarm system, M&E and security works; with some external civils works for the sprinkler tank bases and pump house, additional security barriers and additional fencing to the site.

We have thoroughly enjoyed working with a number of our long-standing sub-contractors on this project and also some new local sub-contractors.

The project was completed within a tight timescale in just 20 weeks and everyone who has worked on the project has delivered to the usual extremely high standard we and our clients expect.

JJL Design & Build Ltd working in partnership with BFS Group Limited are pleased to present Bidfood’s new multi-temperature storage and distribution facility.

The bespoke 95,000 sq. ft. depot constructed in Glasgow is part of Bidfood Scotland’s initiative to expand the business’s distribution network throughout the west of Scotland; supporting continued growth and helping meet the increasing demand from both existing and new customers; strengthening their position in the distribution of top-quality produce.

The cutting-edge CO2 refrigeration system operates the 26,000m3 high bay Cold Store and the 10,000m3 high bay Chiller alongside the 47,500m3 Ambient Store, the operation is supported by a total of 5,150m3 of office space. The 13,000m2 Yard area equipped with EV charge points ensures that the site can accommodate the company’s green fleet whilst maximising the throughput of stock.

Bidfood work in partnership with local suppliers; from small artisan producers to globally recognised brands; offering their range of Scottish products including fresh meat, game, fish, dairy, bakery, alcohol, etc. to ensure customers benefit from a truly local service.

JJL provided a one-stop solution from concept design through to completion resulting in a new high-quality, modern facility that has been designed with the latest state-of-the-art systems and technology to support Bidfood in reducing its carbon footprint as well as continuing to work towards its target of greener depots to become a positive force for change towards a sustainable future; helping local people, the planet and their customers as well as supporting the community in which it operates by providing jobs for local people.

JJL Design & Build Ltd have gained Practical Completion at Bidfood’s Regional Distribution and Fulfilment Centre in Glasgow.

Despite multiple challenges, a pandemic and the worst winter in history we managed to delivered the building safely and to a very high standard.

The collaboration between JJL, the Client, the Project Manager and all of approved Sub-Contractors who share the same passions and values as JJL to deliver high quality projects for the end user.

A true definition of great results built through teamwork.

New Depot ready to strengthen Bidfood UK in Scotland in 2023

Bidfood’s new Depot based in Glasgow is nearing completion.

The 90,000 sq.ft site in Glasgow will cover the west of Scotland, and will open in early spring.

The site has been designed with the latest state-of-the-art systems, technology and fittings to support Bidfood in reducing its carbon footprint as well as continuing to work towards its target of greener depots.

Today, we achieved Practical Completion on the refurbishment of a new DAF Dealership for Ford & Slater DAF in Birtley, Chester-le-Street.

We, at JJL, would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their hard work, attention to detail and commitment throughout the project.

The Dealership features 24-hour opening, 5 workshop bays, 19 DAF trained technicians, Tachograph Calibration Centre, £800,000 parts stock holding of Genuine DAF Parts and TRP all-make truck and trailer parts, and free parts delivery to anywhere in the North East.

ANOTHER PROJECT SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED FOR BIDFOOD WITHIN BUDGET AND TIMESCALE

Due to an increase in business at Bidfood’s Speke Distribution Centre, we were asked to design and build the Freezer Extension in an area of the warehouse that had previously been left dormant.

With a negotiated contract, we mobilised our own team and specialist sub-contractors within a short space of time to ensure that the project could be delivered within Bidfood’s proposed timescale so that they could make use of the extended freezer capacity as soon as was practicably possible.

With our vast experience of working within fully operational environments; together with our trusted and preferred sub-contractors; the purpose built coldstore has been completed to the highest specification that both ourselves and Bidfood demand on every project, with minimal disruption to Bidfood’s day to day business operations.

This would not have been achieved without the commitment from the entire Bidfood Team on site, and Bidfood’s Management and Property Team who ensured that everybody was on-board and committed from the outset.
