We've been manufacturing in the Black Country for well over a century, growing from a local family business. Generations of skill, graft and practical know-how have helped shape what Cooke Brothers is today. And we still have Cooke at the helm.

A lot of time (and money) went into preparing for UKCA. Then the rules changed.

The good news? That work wasn’t wasted.

At Cooke Brothers, our investment in UKCA preparation strengthened:

If you are still unsure about UKCA vs CE marking for door hardware, including hinges, you are not alone. The rules have shifted more than once, but the current position is straightforward:

CE Marking remains valid in Great Britain.
UKCA is optional for most construction products, including hinges.

That means:
• No need to re-test EN-certified hinges
• No need to specify UKCA for UK projects
• CE Marking + DoP remains the correct route
