Our Harker substation project in Carlisle was featured on - highlighting the significant works underway.

We’re supporting , moving overhead lines to underground cables on the 132kV transmission network, helping to enable a renovated substation with greater capacity and reliability.

The new infrastructure will help power economic growth and the region’s low carbon future.

Last week our team took part in a charity walk along the very pipeline route they're helping to build!🚶‍♂️

Over 3 days, different teams took on 14 miles each. From Elton in Chester to Talacre in North Wales, raising funds for Community hub and Talacre Community Centre.

The route follows the Liverpool Bay CO₂ Transportation & Storage Project, where United Infrastructure is delivering 34 km of new pipeline - a cornerstone of HyNet North West and the UK's journey to reach Net Zero by 2050.

This was 42 miles of muddy boots and teamwork!

If you'd like to support these community centres, every donation makes a difference. 💙

Supporting young people in Nottingham 🤝

We were proud to support Juno Women’s Aid with a donation of activity books, games, toys, and resources designed for young people who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Each item was carefully chosen to provide a positive outlet, from activities that bring joy and calm, to books that help children and teens process emotions and find comfort. 🩵

Our hope is that these donations will make a small but meaningful difference, creating moments of joy, calm, and resilience during challenging times.

A big thank you to Juno Women’s Aid for the vital work they do in supporting women, children, and families across Nottingham.

Exciting news! 🚨

Work has officially commenced on our framework with United Utilities as part of its AMP8 and AMP9 investment plans. Through this framework, our Water team will deliver design and build services for clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across the North West of England.

Our scope includes the design, construction, and commissioning of pipelines & pumping stations, reservoirs & in-situ concrete tanks, and sewer works & site facilities.

A major focus of the programme is delivering significant environmental benefits to the region, including:

✅ Reducing storm overflow activations
✅ Improving all storm overflows discharging into/near designated bathing waters
✅ Enhancing 75% of overflows impacting high-priority nature sites

The site compound is now established, and we’re gearing up to begin CSO installation work next week. Alongside the engineering delivery, we’re committed to strong community engagement, with local drop-in centres set up to keep residents and stakeholders informed every step of the way.

Ian McDonnell, Operations Director of Water said “We’re proud to be playing a part in this vital programme that will bring long-lasting benefits to communities and the environment across the North West.”

A new chapter begins!

We’re proud to share that United Living Group is now United Infrastructure.

This change reflects the company we have evolved into. It reflects the scale, complexity, and importance of our work delivering critical infrastructure in the UK - across the water, energy, power, telecoms, and housing sectors.

At United Living, we believe everyone, everywhere, deserves access to clean water, today and for future generations.

We’re proud to support , alongside our partners, and we recently joined a delegation to Zambia as part of NWG’s strategic water operator partnership (SWOP) with Kafubu Water and Sanitation Company Ltd, a partnership facilitated by WaterAid.

The trip included a visit to the recently constructed Kafulafuta Dam, the Nakaputa Service Reservoir, and a demonstration of a hand pump water system at Kanyenda clinic in Masaiti.

Key discussions included efficient water distribution, wastewater management, optimising resources, and reducing costs, all part of a valuable knowledge-sharing mission benefiting both NWG and KWSC and their services in the UK and Zambia.

We look forward to continuing our support for many years to come as we work towards WaterAid’s goal of a world where everyone, everywhere, has clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene.

Our Property Services team recently launched ‘Steps into Construction’, a two-week social value initiative designed to support young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Delivered in collaboration with , and local job centres, the programme offered practical experience, industry insights, and tailored career support to help participants take their first steps into the construction sector.

Highlights included:

✅ Workplace behaviours & teamwork sessions
✅ An inspiring Q&A with our UL apprentices
✅ Completion of CITB Level 1 Health & Safety certificate
✅ A live site visit to our Heath Town retrofit development
✅ An enterprise challenge the candidates presented to a judging panel
✅ CV writing, interview prep & mock interviews

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, from the knowledge gained, to the exposure to diverse roles within United Living and the wider industry. We’re proud to support these young individuals on their journey toward meaningful careers.

A huge thank you to all our partners for making this possible:
Department for Work and Pensions, City of Wolverhampton College,
JobChange, and Wolverhampton Homes. 🤝

We’re proud to be creating real opportunities for young people and long-term social impact. Together we achieve more.

A big day for our Energy team on Tuesday as we attended two key events shaping the future of the UK’s energy transition:

🤝 A technical seminar at Penspen HQ, where we discussed ‘CO₂ Pipeline Infrastructure for Net Zero Systems’ and the delivery of the first of its kind pipeline for the Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd project in the North West of England and into Wales. We shared our experience to date on the pipeline project, highlighting challenges, such as building a 300-person workforce.

🤝 The Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd Supply Chain Conference, hosted by NOF and North Sea Transition Authority, where we heard from sector leaders, including our own Conor Bray, who outlined our EPC scope for the onshore pipeline and spurlines and the role we’re playing in delivering this transformational CO₂ pipeline project.

Overall, our involvement in these events is crucial as we work to deliver first of a kind energy transition projects in CCS. Creating opportunities to inspire the next generation into engineering and construction is key to shaping a connected, sustainable future, and the meaningful impact this work will have on our planet. 🌍

Last week we wrapped up a fantastic five-week employer placement for three T Level students in Design, Surveying & Planning, a qualification supporting 16–19-year olds on their journey into skilled employment or further study.

It’s been a pleasure having Caiden, Jack, and Whitley join us at UL, both in the office and out on-site, gaining hands on experience across telecoms, build, and health and safety.

Throughout their placement, the students worked with our teams on:

✅ Acquisition: drafting proposals for new tower installations.
✅ Design: creating tower designs aligned with planning requirements.
✅ Commercial: reviewing full life cycle cost considerations.
✅ Construction: building their own towers based on their designs.

We ended the placement with a bit of friendly competition and some very impressive towers! Congratulations to Jack, who took home the prize for the best build.

Wishing all the students the best of luck for the rest of their course, and we hope to see you again in the future!

We were delighted to be the headline sponsor for the Pro-AM charity golf tournament, which took place last Friday.

Now in its 33rd year, the day has raised over £10,000 for the charity that helps deliver clean water and sanitation to some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Liam Nicholson and Louise Hunter, also gave a presentation to attendees regarding their experiences following the recent trip to Zambia as part of NWG strategic water operator partnership with Kafubu Water and Sanitation which WaterAid is facilitating.

We look forward to continuing our support for many years to come as we work towards WaterAid’s goal of a world where everyone, everywhere, has access to safe water and sanitation by 2030.
