Family means a lot at The Booth Group - and our day at Donington Park was a perfect example of that.

We were there to support Tom Cannon in his first race with Team BRIT, and what a debut it was - second in class and third overall. An outstanding result, and fully deserved.

This sponsorship has always been personal to us. Tom’s dad teaches Josh (son of our Founder Matthew Booth, and MD Kate McCarthy (FIRP), and all-round legend), and after hearing Tom’s story and seeing his determination, Josh was the first to say we should get involved. From there, it was an easy decision.

So when we arrived at the circuit, it felt like more than a race day. Matthew and Josh couldn’t miss the chance to cheer Tom on trackside, with members of the wider team there to support too.

The atmosphere was electric, the racing was unforgettable, and seeing Tom deliver that kind of performance on day one made it even more special.

We’re so proud to support Tom and proud to be part of his journey with Team BRIT this season.

The Booth Group and Envirogeeks back aspiring racing driver.

The Booth Group and Envirogeeks have teamed up to support St Helens-based racing driver Tom Cannon, bringing together expertise in land remediation, sustainable materials and environmental consultancy.

17-year-old Tom is a rookie driver for Team BRIT, the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers.

Tom was diagnosed with autism in 2023 after his parents sought help for the many social challenges and social anxiety Tom was facing at school.

He discovered a passion for racing when he was just eight years old, and competed in the British Indoor Kart Championship. He then took part in the Ginetta Juniors Scholarship programme, reaching the final after competing against 70 drivers. Realising he had clear potential, he took his advanced ARDS test to enable him to compete in senior races.

He signed for Team BRIT this year and will compete in the Snetterton Saloons Series as part of a developmental rookie year. Tom will drive a BMW M240i and will team up with experienced driver Bobby Trundley, who will help support and coach him in his inaugural year with the team. Bobby is also autistic.

Now, both Booth Group and Envirogeeks branding can be seen on Tom’s race suit and car. Tom took to the track last weekend for round 1 of the Snetterton Saloons Series at Donington Park, where he came in 2nd in class and 3rd overall. An absolutely fantastic result.

The BMW M240i Tom is driving has been completely ‘recycled’ to become a racing car. Bought from an online auction after sustaining extensive structural damage, Team BRIT engineers stripped it and carried out a range of upgrades and additions. This is just one part of the team’s efforts towards greater sustainability, aligning with The Booth Group and Envirogeeks’ passion for demonstrating how materials can be reused and re-engineered, even in traditionally resource-intensive industries.

With a long-term ambition to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tom is taking his first steps towards the highest level of endurance racing, with The Booth Group and Envirogeeks proud to support him.
