FASSI Classic speed championship event 2 at Shelsley Walsh
What a dramatic weekend at the iconic Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb Rounds 3 & 4 of the championship delivered drama, changing conditions, and a real shake-up in the standings. With a tricky new surface and unpredictable weather, every point had to be fought for amongst the 20 competitors, and it showed!
🔥 Headline story:
Graeme Hall now leads the overall championship on 70 points after a strong showing in his MG B GT. But it’s tight at the top, with Ben Cross, Tim Cross, Steve Downey and others all within striking distance. This season is wide open!
🏆 Class highlights:
• Pre ’77 Saloons: Steve Downey takes control after a double win at Shelsley
• Pre ’77 Sports Cars: Hall leads, but the Cross duo are right on his heels
• Pre ’91 Sports Cars: Daniel Carroll extends his advantage
• Pre ’94 Single Seaters: Colin Richards keeps a narrow edge
⚡ Fastest times of the weekend:
Martin Jones set the pace in his Brabham BT21, while Simon Braithwaite’s Es**rt RS1600 impressed by running close to single-seater speeds!
😬 A tough outing for Scuderia FASSI:
Mechanical issues and an on-course incident meant an early end to the weekend for both Leigh Carter and Dave Fripp — but both remain in the championship fight.
👏 Huge thanks to the marshals, organisers, photographers and everyone behind the scenes who made the event possible.
After two venues, one thing is clear… this championship is just getting started.
