FASSI Classic speed championship event 2 at Shelsley Walsh

What a dramatic weekend at the iconic Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb Rounds 3 & 4 of the championship delivered drama, changing conditions, and a real shake-up in the standings. With a tricky new surface and unpredictable weather, every point had to be fought for amongst the 20 competitors, and it showed!

🔥 Headline story:
Graeme Hall now leads the overall championship on 70 points after a strong showing in his MG B GT. But it’s tight at the top, with Ben Cross, Tim Cross, Steve Downey and others all within striking distance. This season is wide open!

🏆 Class highlights:
• Pre ’77 Saloons: Steve Downey takes control after a double win at Shelsley
• Pre ’77 Sports Cars: Hall leads, but the Cross duo are right on his heels
• Pre ’91 Sports Cars: Daniel Carroll extends his advantage
• Pre ’94 Single Seaters: Colin Richards keeps a narrow edge

⚡ Fastest times of the weekend:
Martin Jones set the pace in his Brabham BT21, while Simon Braithwaite’s Es**rt RS1600 impressed by running close to single-seater speeds!

😬 A tough outing for Scuderia FASSI:
Mechanical issues and an on-course incident meant an early end to the weekend for both Leigh Carter and Dave Fripp — but both remain in the championship fight.

👏 Huge thanks to the marshals, organisers, photographers and everyone behind the scenes who made the event possible.

After two venues, one thing is clear… this championship is just getting started.

FASSI Classic Speed Championship 2026 gets under way at Loton Park 🏁

What a fantastic start to the new season. In perfect spring conditions, the challenging hill climb at Loton Park delivered a fantastic opening round—with a double-header format meaning plenty of action and points up for grabs from the start.

Paul Hogan (Triumph TR3S) leads the way on 45 points, just ahead of Graeme Hall (MG B GT) on 44, with Richard Morris (Lotus 51A) close behind on 43—only two points separating the top three.

There were standout performances across the classes, including Andy Clarke’s dominant run in his Austin Mini, a close-fought battle between Hall and Hogan in Pre ’77 Sports Cars, and strong starts from Daniel Carroll and Dave Fripp.

With tight margins and great pace throughout the field, the 2026 season is already shaping up to be a close and exciting one.

A big thank you to the marshals, organisers, photographers MHawkesPhotography Steve Shelley and everyone involved in making the day such a success—we look forward to the next round! 🏁
