🔨 Bespoke Handrail, Made to Fit

A recent handrail project completed and installed by Cherry Forge.

This simple yet sturdy handrail was made from solid steel and designed specifically to follow the line of the staircase, sitting neatly against the existing stone wall.

We kept the design clean and understated, with forged mounting brackets adding a subtle touch of traditional blacksmithing. The textured finish works particularly well against the natural stone, creating a handrail that feels like it belongs in the space rather than simply being added to it.

Another bespoke piece, made in our workshop and fitted on site to suit the building and its surroundings.

Bespoke blacksmithing & steelwork, made by hand.

The Finished Wine Cellar 🍷

From the workshop to its new home.

We recently completed this bespoke wine cellar enclosure for The White Swan in Bosham, and we think the finished result sits beautifully within the space.

The design combines simple vertical bars with traditional hand-formed scrollwork, creating something that feels substantial enough to make a feature of the wine cellar without overwhelming the surrounding interior.

Every section was forged and fabricated specifically to follow the shape of the existing space, including the curved return and doorway, with all the decorative details made and assembled in our workshop before being installed on site.

The White Swan is a Grade II listed historic pub in the village of Bosham, and is currently undergoing refurbishment with plans to reopen as a fine-dining venue later this summer. It was a great project to be involved with, particularly knowing that our work will become part of the next chapter of such a historic local building.

A really rewarding project from initial design and fabrication right through to installation.

🍷 We can't wait to see the finished venue when The White Swan reopens.

From a blank space to something bespoke 🔨

When we were first approached about this project, we were given a fairly simple space to work with, and a very specific vision for what would eventually fill it.

The brief was to create bespoke wine cellar partitions, incorporating traditional scrollwork and detailing while following the shape of the space.

From the initial measurements and design through to the workshop forge and fabrication, every section was made specifically for the job. The curved sections and decorative scrollwork were carefully formed and assembled by hand before everything was prepared for installation.

And, of course, there was a little more to this project than just a wine cellar…

📍 This one was for the historic White Swan in Bosham, which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment ahead of its reopening.

🔥 Back for another upgrade! 🔥

One of the best compliments we can receive is when a customer comes back to us for another project.

Last year, we had the pleasure of replicating this customer's well-used BBQ, giving it a new lease of life while keeping everything they loved about the original. This summer, they returned to us to fabricate a bespoke steel lid, designed specifically to fit the BBQ perfectly.

The new lid will help retain heat, provide protection from the elements, and complete the overall build. Fabricated from steel and made to measure, it's another example of how bespoke additions can improve both the practicality and longevity of a product.

Whether it's a brand-new fabrication, restoring an existing piece, or creating a custom addition like this, we're always happy to help bring ideas to life.

A big thank you to our returning customer for choosing Cherry Forge Ltd once again. Your continued support means a great deal to our small business.

Strengthening a Staircase While Preserving Its Character🔥

Every project has its own challenges, and this one was all about finding the right balance between strength and style.

Our customer had a staircase that had become unstable and needed additional structural support. Rather than fitting off-the-shelf brackets, we designed and handcrafted bespoke forged steel supports that would complement the existing staircase and look as though they had always been there.

The process began with a site visit, where we created full-size timber templates to ensure every angle and measurement was perfect. Back at the workshop, those templates became the foundation for carefully fabricating and forging each support. Finally, we returned to site to install them, giving the staircase the strength it needed while preserving its original character.

This project is a great example of how bespoke blacksmithing and fabrication can solve structural problems without compromising on appearance.

Swipe through to see the journey from timber templates, to fabrication in the workshop, to the finished installation.

If you have a project that requires a practical solution with a bespoke finish, we'd be happy to help.

A Bespoke Entrance: Hand-Forged Grab Rails and an External Hand Rail🌿

There's something special about creating metalwork that's designed specifically for one home.

For this project we handcrafted a pair of elegant front door grab rails, perfectly matched with a flowing external handrail. Every curve was individually forged, heated and shaped using traditional blacksmithing techniques before being carefully fitted to complement the property's character.

Each piece was made to measure, ensuring the handrails provide both safe, comfortable support and a timeless feature that enhances the entrance.

The clean lines, subtle scrolls and durable black finish create a design that's practical without compromising on style.

Every project at Cherry Forge is designed, forged and fabricated to order, giving you something that's built to last and truly unique. If this is of interest to you then please get in touch to discuss your ideas or arrange a free quotation.

The Finished Result - Bespoke Railing Project✅

Over the past couple of weeks, we've taken you through the journey of one of our largest recent projects—from the initial site survey and detailed measurements, through forging and fabrication in our workshop, to the installation of each bespoke section on site.

Today, we're delighted to share the completed project in its finished setting.

Now that the client's landscaping and renovation works have been completed, the railings can finally be seen as they were originally envisioned. The sweeping curved sections, clean geometric detailing and carefully considered design work together to complement the property's contemporary architecture while providing a practical and long-lasting solution.

Projects like this are a fantastic example of what can be achieved when careful planning, skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail come together. Every section was measured, fabricated and installed by our team, ensuring a result that is truly bespoke to the property.

This project has been a pleasure to be part of from start to finish, and we'd like to thank our client for trusting Cherry Forge to help bring their vision to life.

If you're considering a bespoke metalwork project and would like to discuss your ideas, we'd be happy to help.

Installation Day🔨

After weeks of surveying, planning, forging and fabrication, it was finally time to bring this project to site.

Each section was carefully transported and installed, with every piece needing to align perfectly with the property's curved retaining walls, staircases and changing levels. Thanks to the detailed site survey and precise workshop fabrication, the installation process went smoothly, allowing the design to take shape exactly as intended.

There's always a sense of satisfaction when a project reaches this stage. Seeing individual components that have been crafted in the workshop come together in their final location is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

While the railings were now in place and fully functional, the surrounding landscaping and renovation works were still ongoing. Even at this stage, it was clear how the finished installation would complement the property's contemporary design.

These photos capture a major milestone in the project journey and represent the culmination of months of careful planning and craftsmanship.

Next time, we'll be sharing the completed project in its finished setting, showcasing the railings as part of the fully transformed property.

Bringing the Design to Life🔥

With the site survey complete and measurements finalised, it was time to move into the workshop and begin bringing this project to life.

Every section of railing for this installation was fabricated in-house, allowing us to carefully control every detail from start to finish. Using the measurements gathered on site, we began cutting, forging, shaping and assembling each component to suit the unique layout of the property.

Projects like this require far more than simply joining steel together. Curved sections, changing levels and long runs all demand careful planning and precise fabrication to ensure everything fits seamlessly once installed.

One of the things we enjoy most about bespoke work is seeing a project take shape piece by piece. What starts as raw steel gradually becomes something that is both functional and visually striking.

These photos give a glimpse into the craftsmanship, skill and attention to detail that goes into every project before it ever leaves our workshop.

Next time, we'll be following the project to site as the completed sections are carefully installed and the design begins to take its final shape.
