What an unforgettable day celebrating 50 years of OMEX at Holkham

As a family-run company, it was especially meaningful to share this milestone with our staff and their families. Bringing everyone together to celebrate the people who have helped shape OMEX over the past five decades made the occasion truly special.

Guests enjoyed a wonderful day filled with fairy magic, incredible magicians, vintage games, great music, and plenty of laughter, creating lasting memories for everyone 🧚🎷🪄

☀ Extended dry spells, combined with sudden alternating wet and dry weather in the UK, can significantly alter the nutritional profile, physical structure, and fermentation behaviour of silage crops 🌦

🌱Non-Cereal Crops (Grass) 🌱

Dry weather can alter the growth rate and maturity timing of grass crops leading to difficulties in digestion as well as drops in biogas volumes and methane yields per tonne.

🌾 Cereal Crops (Maize, Whole-Crop Wheat, Barley, Triticale)🌾

Drought can impact cereal crops primarily by disrupting grain set and potentially altering the stem chemistry resulting in reduced conversion efficiency.

The use of enzymatic blends, especially feedstock-specific ones, like Viscomex, Axiase and Strawmex, can address the main challenges in digesting higher dry matter feedstocks. These blends have been engineered to address these difficulties in challenging feedstocks and aid in increasing the conversion of organic dry matter to volatile fatty acids.

We hope to see you all again this year at The World Biogas Expo in Birmingham which is fast approaching!

This year we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary of Optimising Life's Essentials and there will be double celebrations in order with the WBA celebrating their 10th Anniversary. Congratulations!

Here's to the next ten years growing and committing to the global biogas industry, influencing policy, developing standards, sharing knowledge, and bringing together stakeholders to turn organic waste into renewable energy, fertilisers and other valuable products while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

As we celebrate 50 years of OMEX, we’re sharing the people behind our journey.

Last month saw the retirement of Paul Young from OMEX Environmental. After nearly 34 years of service at the OMEX Bardney site, Mr Young finally hung up his boots and hi-viz 🦺

Paul has worked across both the Agriculture and Environmental divisions over the years, dedicating a huge amount of time and effort to helping both businesses grow into what they are today. His commitment and contribution to the Bardney site over such a long period has been greatly appreciated.

Pauls’ larger-than-life personality will be greatly missed. His guidance, knowledge, and spontaneous chit-chat were just some of the many things that made him such an asset to OMEX and to everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Wishing you the best retirement Paul and now time to book some well-deserved holidays 🏖️
