Join Our Team as an Automation Control Panel Builder

Woodtek Engineering Limited is a dynamic and growing engineering business based near Welshpool, Powys. We’re currently seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Automation Control Panel Builder to join our team, helping us deliver high-quality automation systems across a range of projects.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of varied and technical work, with the benefit of a four-day working week.

Key Responsibilities

Build, wire, and install electrical control panels to customer and project specifications
Prepare and modify panel enclosures for component fitting and wiring
Compose and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
Check components and layouts against wiring diagrams before and during build
Carry out internal quality checks and ensure full panel QC before installation
Commission control panels on-site or in-house as required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
Assist with general electrical works as part of the wider team
What We're Looking For

Proven experience in control panel building, wiring, and electrical assembly
Ability to read, understand, and create electrical diagrams and layout drawings
Familiarity with electrical components, cable management, and wiring standards
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools for precise electrical work
Good understanding of safety, testing, and commissioning procedures
High attention to detail and quality control mindset
Flexible and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds) are vital

We’re pleased to announce that our plans to develop a pyrolysis plant on Ludlow’s Coder Road business park were given the go-ahead at Southern Planning Committee earlier this week.

This environmentally sustainable initiative will help us to achieve our climate change targets and produce a small amount of renewable energy. The biochar that it produces will also be sold for use in agriculture, construction and industry.

We can’t wait to get started on our second pyrolysis plant!

We are a family run business based in Mid Wales. We design and manufacture our products within our UK based factory. Our range of products include Woodtek Eco Dryers, wood chip screeners, conveyors, augers, moving floors and hoppers.

We are UK distributors for Electratherm ORC Units & Kriger Boilers

We also supply virgin force dried wood chip and CHP wood chip We are proud to introduce our range of Woodtek products designed and developed in our UK based factory. Our mainstream product is our Woodtek Eco Compact Dryer which we have developed over the past four years. A large part of this development was also spent on material handling where we designed large moving floor hoppers and vertical auger systems to reliably load and unload the dryer.

Eco Dryer The Eco Compact dryer is one the most efficient woodchip drying systems on the market with exceptionally low electric consumption. We offer two versions of the eco dryer, a full scale automated system for large scale woodchip drying and a small self loading dryer for those who require a simple drying setup to produce a few ton a day. Hoppers We manufacture a number of different size hoppers with capacities ranging from 15m3 to 100m3. Although designed primarily to handle woodchip the moving floor design has proved very successfully with other materials. Kriger Boilers Woodtek are UK distributorship for Kriger boilers. Kriger manufacture fully automated industrial boilers systems from 400kw up to 15mw. With a moving step grate and ram stoker they are designed to handle difficult low grade biomass with maximum reliability. They also offer medium and high temperature boilers which compliment both our drying system and the Electratherm ORC unit. Electratherm ORC Woodtek are authorised distributors of Electratherm Combined Heat and Power plants. Electratherm are increasingly well regarded for their cutting edge CHP plants, which generate power from excess heat. Electratherm have a very successful fleet of CHP units located worldwide with exceptional reliability. Combined Heat and Power (CHP) We are currently working closely with both Electratherm and Kriger to provide a CHP setup that we believe will be one of the most attractive CHP plants available.
