Woodtek Engineering Limited is a dynamic and growing engineering business based near Welshpool, Powys. We’re currently seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Automation Control Panel Builder to join our team, helping us deliver high-quality automation systems across a range of projects.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of varied and technical work, with the benefit of a four-day working week.

Key Responsibilities

Build, wire, and install electrical control panels to customer and project specifications
Prepare and modify panel enclosures for component fitting and wiring
Compose and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
Check components and layouts against wiring diagrams before and during build
Carry out internal quality checks and ensure full panel QC before installation
Commission control panels on-site or in-house as required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
Assist with general electrical works as part of the wider team
What We're Looking For

Proven experience in control panel building, wiring, and electrical assembly
Ability to read, understand, and create electrical diagrams and layout drawings
Familiarity with electrical components, cable management, and wiring standards
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools for precise electrical work
Good understanding of safety, testing, and commissioning procedures
High attention to detail and quality control mindset
Flexible and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds) are vital

We’re pleased to announce that our plans to develop a pyrolysis plant on Ludlow’s Coder Road business park were given the go-ahead at Southern Planning Committee earlier this week.

This environmentally sustainable initiative will help us to achieve our climate change targets and produce a small amount of renewable energy. The biochar that it produces will also be sold for use in agriculture, construction and industry.

We can’t wait to get started on our second pyrolysis plant!

Woodtek Wet flue gas scrubber. After 8 months in trial on a C600 Biochar plant, this scrubber has been removed, checked over and is now on its way to a permanent site installed in the South of England with a C1000 Biochar plant.

Working with waste wood biomass boilers since 2017 we identified the need for a superior solution filtering flue gases. A design was required to overcome the issues experienced with bag & ceramic filtration on low-grade feedstocks:
-High maintenance cost
-Long downtime for service & maintenance
-High volume of abatements required
-Abatement control parts are fragile and expensive
-Condensation risk at startup and shutdown results in filtration bypass.

At first, looking at wet flue gas scrubbers there was not a good option where the same water could be used and the designs seemed very fragile with high maintenance. Woodtek began to work on a scrubbing solution that was robust, compact, energy-efficient and could use the same "dirty" water without blockages and a reduced abatement. "Mark 1" was developed and installed at a waste wood boiler site in South Wales in 2020 and is still in operation today. With the data learnt from the first model Woodtek started the prototype of "Mark 2". Success followed with great results on emissions and low maintenance.

A flue gas filtration solution was required for a BEIS-funded project to go alongside a Woodtek C1000 Biochar plant. The design was finalized, built and installed on a C600 Biochar plant as a trial. After 8 months of the trial, the scrubber has exceeded expectations and now will be installed on a C1000 Biochar system.

When installed on a C1000 Biochar plant, there are ZERO abatements required to meet emission levels!
