Electrical apprentice Liam Rufus has been named as the North West Regional Rising Star, sponsored by Dovetail and Slate, as part of the JTL Regional Awards 2026!

Liam, who is completing their apprenticeship with JTL and employed by Thompson Building Services Engineers, has been recognised for their technical excellence, commitment to learning and the contribution they have made both on-site and in training.

Liam said:

“Being named a regional winner is a proud moment for me. I’ve learned so much during my apprenticeship and worked hard to get here, so it’s rewarding to have that recognised. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received and excited for the National Awards.”

Our prestigious JTL National Apprenticeship Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 10th June at Plaisterers Hall in London, with headline sponsors Milwaukee Tool UK and Baxi At Home. This National Awards programme is our annual opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our apprentices, teaching staff and employers from around the country.

We are incredibly proud of Billy our Third Year apprentice who competed in the fourth heat Preston yesterday! For 2026s competition. The competition required a display of quality workmanship, technical knowledge and the ability to work under pressure. Billy completed against fourth year apprentices and came second in his heat! A fantastic achievement!! We now wait to see if he’s made it through the finals. Regardless we are all super proud of you
