We are delighted to welcome Andy Thomson to Jacopa as Key Account Manager for the North, supporting United Utilities, Yorkshire Water, and Northumbrian Water.

Andy brings a wealth of experience in account management within the UK water industry with over ten years of experience from Longwood Engineering and Hydro International, where he held sales and project management roles working closely with UK water companies on equipment supply, refurbishment, and service delivery.

Outside of work, Andy is a keen motorsport enthusiast who maintains and runs his own track car, and he also enjoys squash and mountain biking.

On Friday 27th June, our Jacopa Key Account Manager Mick Burton (linkedin.com/in/mick-burton-84326338) will be cycling from his home in North Nottinghamshire to Skegness on the Lincolnshire Coast, completing his solo journey of around 80 miles.

Mick will be taking the opportunity to raise money for Options For Life (https://www.optionsforlife.info/), a worthwhile cause and local to Jacopa at West Bromwich (http://jacopa.com/) which is a not-for-profit charity supporting and enabling people with learning disabilities and/or autism to fulfil their potential and live a full and happy life within their community.

This wonderful local charity will benefit directly from any monies raised, to be used to improve the hub facilities, so if you can contribute any amount to support Mick’s charity bike ride, it would be greatly appreciated and give him that extra drive to complete it!

Jacopa has delivered a further tertiary filtration project, to design, supply and install 3 DynaSand tertiary sand filters, adding to the existing Dynasand filter on site. Jacopa exclusively provides the Nordic Water DynaSand product technology to UK and Ireland water utility end customers with a complete expert package from pre-contract support, project delivery and aftermarket services. The key challenges successfully overcome through detailed operational planning on this project, were around continuing treatment and compliance through the extension from a single to four Dynasand filters.

The Jacopa project to design, supply and install 4 DynaSand Oxy tertiary sand filters, exclusively provides this UK water utility end customer additional treatment capacity to treat higher flows. The project, using Nordic Water DynaSand technology, also delivers a proven nitrifying tertiary filter solution to meet strict ammonia and phosphorus standards. Jacopa provided the complete process, mechanical and electrical scope for the package plant.

Jacopa's installation team expertly installs one of its RBC's at a UK water utility, wastewater treatment works. The RBC (rotating biological contactor) is process equipment that provides an effective, robust, low operating carbon and competitive means of secondary treatment for sewage treatment. Jacopa's RBC meets water utility asset standards and specifications in all respects.

The tertiary treatment plant shown, incorporating two DS7000 sand filters from Nordic Water, presents another project where Jacopa has worked collaboratively with the whole supply chain to deliver the treatment solution. The package treatment plant, providing as much standard equipment with minimum engineering configuration, to deliver the solution safely and as timely and cost effectively as possible, is designed to achieve final effluent standards for Total Phosphorus, Iron and Suspended Solids.

Continuing customer demand has recently seen several Jacopa RBCs on the production line at Jacopa’s West Bromwich factory. This RBC shown, is an asset replacement for an old unit being decommissioned, the scope of supply being a 3.0m diameter rotor, stub shaft, standard density media discs, split roller bearings and motor gearbox. The Jacopa RBC has a 20-year design life, providing reliable, cost-effective secondary treatment at many sites across the UK and Ireland.

Jacopa is pleased to share another successful SAF (submerged aeration filter) installation, for one of our many valued clients.

Due to population growth within the catchment, from 135pe to 411pe, the Jacopa SAF product was selected to provide an extension to the existing works, to meet the revised final effluent quality consent for BOD and TSS removal. Peak instantaneous flows to the SAF would be 2 l/sec, with maximum total daily flows of 171.1m3/day. An average daily flow of 46.2m3/day, with a loading of: 13 kg/day BOD, 15.2 kg/day of TSS and 1.6 kg/day of ammonia.

Jacopa’s scope of supply was to design, manufacture and install the new CB200 SAF (Submerged Aerated Filter) wastewater treatment stream, along with new settlement tanks and access walkways. The complete, build off-site, standard configured packaged solution was provided to meet a very tight delivery programme. Full electrical testing and commissioning took place after installation. Plant seeding typically takes up to 4 weeks, depending on the environmental conditions and the new treatment stream was operational, ensuring that the compliance date was achieved on schedule.
