Another campervan solar upgrade completed at Meryan Vans in West London.

This project involved installing four additional roof-mounted solar panels and upgrading the campervan electrical system to increase off-grid power capacity. To ensure optimal performance, we installed a second Victron MPPT solar charge controller and integrated it into the existing system via the Victron Cerbo GX.

The original solar panels had a higher operating voltage than the new panels, so installing a dedicated Victron controller prevents voltage mismatch and allows both solar arrays to run at maximum efficiency.

Work carried out included:

• Campervan solar panel installation on the roof
• Victron MPPT 100/30 solar charge controller installation
• Integration with Victron Cerbo GX monitoring system
• Upgrading solar cabling and DC protection
• PV fuse protection and DC circuit breaker installation
• Programming correct battery charge parameters
• Full testing of the campervan electrical system

The result is a much more powerful off-grid power setup, giving the customer significantly more renewable energy when travelling or camping off-grid.

This van came in with a DIY electrical setup using household wiring and incorrect fuses — something we see more often than you’d think, and it can be a serious safety risk.

We stripped the old system out and redesigned the electrical panel from scratch, relocating it to the opposite side of the van and rebuilding everything neatly, safely, and properly protected.

✔ Correct cable sizing
