Remember to book in your annual biomass boiler service. Essential for maximising efficiency of your boiler and often a condition of the boiler warranty. Watch out for fraudulent fuel suppliers! We've become aware of suppliers providing false BSL numbers for bagged pellets. Using low quality pellet fuel could damage your boiler and lead to costly repairs. When sourcing your fuel check the BSL number provided on the Biomass Suppliers List website http://biomass-suppliers-list.service.gov.uk/find-a-fuel. Take a minute to check and save yourself time and money down the line.

Buying wood pellets in bulk is cheaper than bags. The UK Wood Pellet Council advises installing the largest pellet bulk hopper you have space and money for as the investment pays in the long run, find out more http://www.pellets2heat.com/wood-fuel-pelletschipslogs/

Get the most from your heating system this winter by regularly checking your biomass boiler. Every system will be different but do check your control screens and fuel levels on a weekly basis. Remember your ash pan may also need emptying more regularly during winter.

In case you missed the good news - funding for the Renewable Heat Incentive is continuing until 2021! We will let you know what comes from the planned reform of the RHI next year.

The government will increase funding for the Renewable Heat Incentive to £1.15 billion in 2021 to ensure that the UK continues to make progress towards its climate goals while reforming the scheme to improve value for money

RHI tariff update: recent announcements that the domestic biomass tariff is decreasing to 5.14p/kWh. The small commercial tariff will be 3.76p/kWh for all applications made from 1st January 2016.

DECC announced on 30 November 2015 that the degression trigger for biomass has been passed. This means that the biomass tariff of 6.43p per kilowatt hour will be reduced by 20% to 5.14p per kilowatt hour for all new applications made from 1 January 2

Common question we get asked = How much do you get paid for having a biomass heating system?
Answer = Your home's heat demand multiplied by the RHI tariff for biomass to get an estimate.
The heat demand of your home is in your Energy Performance Certificate (towards the back - we can provide one if you need one). The Renewable Heat Incentive tariff for biomass is currently 6.43p/kWh, find out more from OfGem.
