Fuel Forecourt Shop Assistant Vacancy

Part time role - minimum 14 hours per week additional hours maybe need to cover holidays and sickness.

Shifts will mainly be evenings and weekend work.

Above minimum wage hourly rate.

Applicants must be 18+.

Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Operate the till and process fuel, shop and other sales transactions accurately.
Handle cash and card payments according to company procedures.
Replenish shelves, refrigerators, and display areas to ensure products are fully stocked.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
Check deliveries and assist with stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards in the shop, toilets, and forecourt areas.
Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards or maintenance issues.
Verify age-restricted sales in line with company policies and legal requirements.
Assist with opening and closing procedures as required.
Support colleagues and management in achieving sales and customer service targets.

Essential:
Good communication and customer service skills.
Basic numeracy and cash-handling ability.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

Just a reminder the fuel delivery service and the garage workshop are closed all day. The forecourt is also closed between 10.30am - 3pm. This is due to Dave’s funeral being today and as a mark of respect he deserves ❤️

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our founder and Managing Director, David Roberts, aged 81, who passed away at home on Monday 18th May 2026.

Dave built the business with a customer-first approach and, alongside his son Paul and his two late sons, Nigel and Ian, helped grow D A Roberts into the company it is today. Over the years, he employed a huge number of local people and delivered millions of litres of fuel to homes and businesses across the community. He was also always striving to offer the cheapest forecourt prices in the UK, which brought numerous media channels to cover his fair pricing approach.

Dave’s loyalty, hard work, dedication, and commitment to both customers and staff will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a lasting legacy within the business and the local area.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday 28th May at midday at St Alkmund’s Church, Whitchurch.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Pat, his family, and all the staff at D A Roberts during this difficult time.

As a mark of respect, the fuel delivery and garage workshop aspects of the business will be closed on the day of the funeral. The forecourt will be closed between 10.30am and 3pm.
