🏢 Future-ready doesn't have to mean starting again.

It's World Green Building Week, and this year's theme is all about making buildings ready for what comes next – resilient, efficient and ready for opportunity.

For the huge number of buildings that are already standing, there's an important question: How can we make what we already have perform better?

At andOr Systems, that's a question we encounter every day.

Upgrading and integrating BEMS, improving control strategies, optimising existing systems and identifying targeted improvements can all help buildings operate more effectively and reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

Sometimes the answer is new technology. Sometimes it's getting existing technology to work harder and smarter. Often, it's a combination of the two.

A future-ready building doesn't necessarily start with a blank sheet of paper. It starts with understanding what you've already got – and what it could do better.

A long time ago, in a site office not so far, far away…

There was Vader.

He may not appear on the andOr Systems payroll, but Vader is widely regarded as a valued member of the team, providing companionship, moral support and occasional supervision.

So, on International Dog Day, we're giving our favourite four-legged colleague his moment in the spotlight.

After all, with a name like Vader and a team called andOr, perhaps the Force was always going to be strong with this one. 🐾

Happy International Dog Day from Vader and the andOr Systems team!

🟢 Successful Trend BMS Installation & Witnessing 🟢

Another successful installation, commissioning and witnessing completed by the andOr Systems team.

The project included Trend Control Systems IQ5s for energy monitoring and control, IQ5NC riser control and IQECO field controllers, all brought together through IQVISION to provide a clear and intuitive view of the building’s operation.

A key part of the delivery was integrating the new controls around the existing site conditions and operational requirements matching what was already familiar to the client, while adding a subtle sprinkle of andOr enhancements to improve usability, visibility and overall system operation.

Following successful commissioning and witnessing, the system is now ready to provide a robust, maintainable platform for the building moving forward.

Matching what works. Enhancing what matters. Empowering Buildings.

Tomorrow’s partial solar eclipse will briefly change the amount of daylight reaching the UK.

It's a rare event but changing environmental conditions aren't unusual for smart buildings.

Whether it's a passing cloud, a summer heatwave or a solar eclipse, intelligent BEMS continuously monitor conditions and automatically adjust heating, cooling and lighting to help maintain comfort while using energy efficiently.

At andOr Systems, that's what we help our clients achieve every day.

Want to find out how intelligent building controls can help your building respond more efficiently to changing conditions? Get in touch - we'd be happy to help.

It was a pleasure for our Director, Lewis Locke, to represent andOr Systems at the recent Pentland Homes Charity Golf Day in support of the Red Eagle Foundation.

The event brought together businesses from across the region to raise an incredible £13,000 for disabled, disadvantaged and terminally ill children in Kent, demonstrating what can be achieved when organisations come together for a worthwhile cause.

Lewis also had the opportunity to share a fourball with former professional footballers Scott Minto and Matt Le Tissier, making for an enjoyable day both on and off the course.

Events like these are about far more than golf. They provide the opportunity to support charities doing outstanding work, strengthen existing relationships, meet new people, and step away from the day-to-day pressures of work to recharge. Building strong professional networks often starts with conversations in informal settings, and those connections can benefit everyone involved long after the final putt.

A big thank you to the Red Eagle Foundation, Pentland Homes and everyone involved in organising such a successful day. We're proud to have played a small part in supporting such an important cause.

As Armed Forces Day approaches, we're proud to recognise and thank the men and women who serve, or have served, in the UK's Armed Forces community.

At andOr Systems, this is a cause that resonates strongly. Our Director, Lewis Locke, served in the Royal Navy, and in 2025 we were proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing our commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families.

The Armed Forces community brings a wealth of qualities that are valued throughout our industry: leadership, teamwork, adaptability, professionalism and the ability to perform under pressure. These are skills that transfer naturally into engineering, building technology and project delivery environments.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the whole country to recognise the contribution made by serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and military families, and to thank them for the commitment, dedication and sacrifice they make on our behalf.

To everyone who has served, is serving, or supports those who do, thank you.

There are a host of organisations that work with and support the Armed Forces. If you’d be interested in finding out more about how you can show your support, two groups that we would recommend are -

This week, the nation comes together to recognise and thank those who serve.

To the sailors, soldiers and aviators protecting our security. To the reservists balancing military commitments alongside civilian careers. To the veterans whose service continues to shape the communities and organisations they support today. And to the families whose unwavering support makes it all possible.

Armed Forces Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, professionalism and sacrifice of the entire Armed Forces community. Their contribution deserves our gratitude, respect and recognition.

At andOr Systems, we are proud to support the Armed Forces community and join the nation in saying thank you for your service.

Clean Air Day is a good reminder that the air inside our buildings matters just as much as the air outside.

When people think about building performance, energy efficiency often gets the attention. But the quality of the indoor environment has a direct impact on the comfort, wellbeing and productivity of the people using those spaces every day.

Over the last year, we've been working on projects ranging from LoRaWAN-based indoor air quality monitoring and wired duct air quality sensors, through to AHU decarbonisation upgrades. While they're very different projects, they share a common goal: helping building owners better understand, improve and optimise their environments.

Whether it's providing better visibility of CO₂ levels and air quality within occupied spaces and ventilation systems, or reducing the carbon impact of air handling equipment, small improvements can make a real difference to both buildings and the people who use them.

Clean Air Day, coordinated by Global Action Plan, is a great opportunity to keep that conversation going.

Because better buildings aren't just about saving energy, they're about creating healthier places for people.

A big thank you to Optergy for visiting our office this week.
It was great to catch up with Kuldeep Singh and learn more about the latest developments within the Optergy ecosystem.

We had some interesting discussions around LoRaWAN metering and how wireless metering technologies are helping building owners and facilities teams gain greater visibility of energy and utility consumption across their portfolios.

We also looked at Axon, Optergy's latest platform, which brings together building automation, energy management and facility management into a single solution. The ability to integrate data from multiple sources and deliver real-time insights is becoming increasingly important as organisations look to optimise building performance and reduce energy consumption.

And a special thank you for the doughnuts, they definitely went down well with the team!

Looking forward to continuing the conversation and exploring future opportunities together.
