🏳️‍🌈 What a weekend!

Wigan came alive with colour, celebration and community as thousands of people came together to mark the 11th anniversary of Wigan Pride.

We were incredibly proud to once again be the headline sponsor, with 20 colleagues, including our Chief People Officer, San Johal, joining the parade through the town centre in a wonderful show of support, visibility and allyship.

Our Colleague Experience Director, Thomas Huscroft, took to the stage and spoke about how Wigan is more than a place on a map, describing it as home to many of our colleagues, their families, our customers and the communities we serve every day. That's why supporting events like Pride matters. It allows us to show up, celebrate difference and demonstrate what inclusion looks like in action.

Our progress (LGBTQ+) network co-chair, Stuart Mather, reflected on the day:

"I am so proud and humbled to be part of Wigan Pride on behalf of Calisen. This year, Wigan truly showed up. The community wrapped its arms around us in the most wholesome, supportive way. This is allyship in action, and it felt amazing."

The countdown is on... Wigan Pride is almost here! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We're delighted to be returning as headline sponsor and can't wait to join the celebrations with thousands of people from across the borough and beyond.

For us, Pride is about more than a single event. It's about creating communities where everyone feels they belong, can be themselves, and is celebrated for who they are.

Wigan is a place we're proud to call home. Many of our colleagues, customers and communities are right here in the borough, which makes supporting Wigan Pride especially meaningful.

Tomorrow we'll be celebrating alongside the LGBTQ+ community, allies, friends and families, while recognising the importance of continuing to build a more inclusive future for everyone.

🌈 Wigan Pride is just around the corner, and the excitement is building across the borough! 💙

Our CEO, Catherine O'Kelly, joined colleagues Thomas Huscroft, Marina Diaz and Stuart Mather at a special Pride reception hosted by the Mayor of Wigan Borough, Councillor Anne Collins, at Wigan Town Hall.

As part of the celebrations, young people from across the borough were invited to design a T-shirt that captures the spirit of Wigan Pride, reflecting themes of diversity, inclusion, positivity and hope. As headline sponsors of Wigan Pride, we were delighted to join the judging panel and review more than 250 incredible entries.

The creativity, thought and talent on display made selecting a winner and four runners-up a real challenge. The winning designs stood out for their powerful messages and imaginative artwork, perfectly capturing what Pride means to our community. 🌈

The competition gave local children a chance to express themselves creatively and share their vision for a more inclusive future, and it was inspiring to see so many young people get involved.

We'll be celebrating alongside the community at Wigan Pride this Saturday 8th August, and we hope to see many of you there for what promises to be a fantastic day for all ages.
