Fan Unit Repair & Replacement Project Completed

Our team recently completed work on two fan units, showcasing both our repair and on-site service capabilities.

🔹 Ziehl-Abegg Fan Unit (Left)
Following a detailed assessment, this unit was brought into our workshop for repair. Our engineers have carried out a full refurbishment process and now the fan has been returned to our customer in reliable operating condition and extend its service life.

🔹 Elta Fan Unit (Right)
After attending site, our engineers isolated, removed, and assessed the existing unit. The inspection determined that replacement was the quickest solution, so we supplied, installed a new fan unit, and completed full on-site testing and commissioning.
As part of the project, the customer also requested that the original Elta fan to be repaired and retained as a critical spare, helping to minimise future downtime.

⚙️ Inovance Servo Motors Supplied for Steel Roll Forming Line

Another successful supply project completed for our customer! 👏

We recently supplied a set of Inovance servo motors to be fitted onto the customer's existing gearboxes as part of a transfer conveyor on a steel roll forming line.

These high-performance servo motors will provide the precision, reliability and controlled movement required to keep the transfer conveyor operating smoothly within a demanding steel processing environment.

🔧 Another Fan Unit Repair Completed by Webb-Elec Ltd

We’ve recently completed a full refurbishment of a fan unit for one of our valued customers, taking the unit through our comprehensive inspection, repair, balancing and testing process.

Our work included:

🔹 Full dismantling, degreasing & steam cleaning of all components

🔹 Baker & surge testing of stator windings, followed by stove & impregnation

🔹 Rotor testing for damaged bars

🔹 Inspection of shaft bearing journals and housings for wear

🔹 Machining and sleeving of both drive and non-drive end brackets

🔹 Cleaning and inspection of the fan impeller

🔹 Dynamic balancing of the rotor & impeller assemblies

🔹 Supply & fitting of replacement bearings

🔹 Complete rebuild of the fan unit

🔹 Test bay setup and full run test

🔹 Paint and deliver back to our customer

From initial inspection through to final testing and delivery, our team ensures every stage is completed to a high standard.

We're thrilled to announce that Tracey is joining Webb-Elec Ltd as our new Accounts Administrator.

Tracey will be joining our team and playing an important role in supporting our accounts function, helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes and ensuring our customers and suppliers continue to receive the high level of service Webb-Elec is known for.

Outside of work, Tracey enjoys yoga, cooking and watching true crime documentaries — so we're sure there'll be plenty of interesting conversations around the office!

Following a full inspection and static testing process, it was determined that the existing pump was beyond economical repair. After discussing the available options with our customer, we supplied a replacement unit to ensure a reliable and cost-effective solution with minimal downtime.

🔧 Major Overhaul Completed – Crompton 355kW Scorch Motor 🔧

Our team recently completed a full overhaul of a Crompton 355kW Scorch Motor, restoring the unit to optimum operating condition and ensuring long-term reliability for our customer.

The scope of work included:

✅ Collection and transportation of the motor
✅ Full dismantling, degreasing and steam cleaning of all components
✅ Baker and surge testing of stator windings, followed by stoving and impregnation
✅ Rotor testing for damaged bars
✅ Inspection of all bearing journals and housings for wear
✅ Machining and sleeving of a worn bearing housing
✅ Dynamic balancing of the rotor assembly
✅ Supply and installation of new bearings and seals
✅ Cleaning and inspection of the terminal board
✅ Complete overhaul, reassembly and test bed setup
✅ Supply of a new half coupling
✅ Machining of coupling bore and keyway to size
✅ Coupling installation and alignment
✅ Final run testing, painting and delivery back to site

Another successful repair project completed by the team at Webb-Elec, helping our customer minimise downtime and restore reliable operation.

✅ Collect the fan unit from site
✅ Fully dismantle, degrease and steam clean all components
✅ Inspection revealed the motor was beyond economical repair
✅ Supply and install a new WEG cast iron motor
✅ Impeller cleaned and assessed
✅ Supply and fit new impeller hub and taper-lock bush
✅ Dynamically balance to G6.3 at 3000 RPM
✅ Complete rebuild of the fan unit
✅ Testing and performance verification in our test bay
✅ Final paint finish and delivery back to the customer's site

Another successful project completed by the team, restoring a critical pump unit and returning it to service with improved reliability and performance 💥

Our engineers attended site to safely isolate, disconnect, and remove the pump unit before bringing it back to our workshop for a full inspection and overhaul

By carrying out a complete mechanical and electrical refurbishment, we were able to extend the life of the equipment and ensure reliable operation for the customer.

A great effort from our workshop and site teams from start to finish. 👏
