Fun video this one, of our Electroluminescent Formula E Car for Nissan E-Dams, in Partnership with Manchester City FC. Was a pleasure meeting Jann Mardenborough, 2011 European winner of GT Academy, filmed here drifting after a second night of filming around the streets of Manchester, with Nissan's FE Driver Sebastian Buemi driving for us on the first night.

The Electroluminescent coatings applied to the Formula E racecar consumed up to 400W when all the fields were illuminated. The design was split into 16 channels, with the design mirrored on either side of the car. A design luminosity of 60Cd/m2 was chosen following the initial camera tests on some of our samples. The system, fully removable so the E-Dam's team's Dev car could be returned to its initial condition just days after filming.

Just finished up fabricating this 1.5m x 1.5m steel frame for our granite CNC mill build, it's exciting progress. 8 levelling castors rated to a combined 4 ton should hopefully cope with our 2 ton machine! Time will tell.

Drag chain time here at Bandgap building a machine around the 3DTek heavymill. Making up shielded twisted pairs for the steppers and including the airlines ready for the ATC -automatic toolchange spindle we're very excited about. This machine will be servicing our needs for the next 6-12 months, amongst other things building parts for a monster servo-driven gantry mill currently being designed. After that we have big plans for repurposing this heavymill for an exciting R&D project! Stay tuned, more heavymill related content coming soon.
