🧲 Why does rust form?

Rust forms when metal reacts with oxygen and moisture, and everyday things like rain, water, road salt and damp conditions can all speed up corrosion.

But why does this matter? 👀
Once rust starts, it can spread and weaken the metal over time — especially when corrosion is left untreated.

At Chemodex, we understand the importance of protecting metal surfaces and preventing corrosion before it becomes a bigger problem.

£9,000 raised for Ashgate Hospice👏

As the main sponsor of this year’s Chemodex Charity Golf Day, we were proud to be part of a fantastic event that brought together players, sponsors and supporters for a brilliant cause.

Our Area Sales Manager, Darren Arnold, attended on behalf of Exol, joining everyone for a day of golf and fundraising.

Together, we raised a record-breaking £9,000 for Ashgate Hospice, helping them continue their vital work supporting local people and their families.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated and helped make the day such a success.

We’re honoured to have played our part in raising such an incredible amount for a very important cause 🙌

🧼 Why is degreasing so important?

Oil, grease and dirt can build up on components over time, making maintenance more difficult and potentially hiding issues such as wear or corrosion.

A good degreasing routine can help you:

🧽 Remove built-up grease & oil
🔍 Make components easier to inspect
🛠️ Prepare surfaces for maintenance
✨ Keep your workshop and components cleaner

A clean component is easier to inspect, maintain and work on.

🛠️ Ever wondered what “EP2” actually means on a grease cartridge?

You’ve probably seen EP2 on grease products, but it’s more than just a name!

EP = Extreme Pressure
Designed to help protect components when exposed to high loads and pressure.

2 = NLGI Grade 2
This refers to the consistency of the grease. NLGI Grade 2 is a common consistency for general-purpose lubrication.

Why does it matter? Choosing the right grease can help lubricate moving components, reduce friction and protect against wear during operation.
