What does your solar warranty actually cover?

Warranties are one of the most overlooked parts of a solar purchase decision, right up until something goes wrong.

At Sopoco, every installation comes with two separate types of cover:
✔️ A 2-year workmanship warranty from us, covering the quality of the installation itself
✔️ Full manufacturer warranties on the equipment itself, typically covering panels for 25 to 30 years, with separate terms for inverters and batteries depending on the brand

Because we're accredited under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and backed by the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), you also have a clear route to resolution if a dispute ever arises, on top of the manufacturer and workmanship cover.

Before you sign with any installer, ask exactly what's covered, for how long, and who to contact if a claim's ever needed. It's a five-minute question that protects a decades-long investment.

How much maintenance do solar panels need?

Solar panels don’t have any moving parts and are fairly low-maintenance. But over time, weathering and other environmental factors – dead leaves, traffic pollution and bird droppings – can affect your panels’ performance. ⚡ Project complete: Middle Mead, Rustington

We've recently completed a solar photovoltaic (PV) installation at a semi-detached bungalow on Middle Mead in Rustington, West Sussex.

This project came to us through a recommendation from an existing customer, and the homeowners wanted a similar set-up to the one their friend already had.

To make the most of the roof, we split the array evenly across both aspects: 8 panels facing east and 8 facing west, for 16 panels in total capturing sunlight from morning through to evening. Enphase micro-inverters and an Enphase IQ 5-kilowatt (kW) battery complete the system, fitted on a K2 single rail mounting system.

A simple, straightforward residential installation – and proof that a good recommendation from a happy customer is often the best way to find us.

Latest project complete: Pattern Church, Swindon

We've just finished installing 90 solar panels at Pattern Church in Swindon – our second church project, following on from St Andrew's in Hove, with the same project manager leading both schemes.

Before the upgrade, most of the building ran on electricity, heat pumps and immersion heaters, leaving the church with some hefty energy bills. We redesigned the whole system to make a real dent in those costs.

The building has an unusual past: it used to be a pattern factory, casting parts for trains and railways. That history shaped the install too, as we fitted the panels across a trapezoid roof sitting above the building's original water tank, once part of a fire safety system that let workers flood the building from the stairwells if needed.

Another example of how the right design can bring solar to even the most unusual buildings.
