Energy waste hurts us all by keeping demand and prices high.

I was at London Excel this week which was incredibly quiet as the Exhibition season has yet to start.

It was like walking through a ghost town. However, the level of ghost energy consumption was frightening.

This is what energy waste looks like and the frustrating thing is it is so avoidable.

This is what an Energy waste sounds like. What you can hear is the Kitchen extract system of a restaurant that isn’t open.

There may be staff inside but I doubt any cooking is being undertaken. Which means the extraction system has nothing to extract.

It is on because in most catering establishments turning on the gas valves is one of the first jobs of the day.

Doing so automatically triggers the extraction system. This lack of intelligent control means the extraction system runs when there is no demand for extraction and as such causes significant energy waste.
