Heron Gliding Club Heron Gliding Club is a member of the Royal Navy Gliding and Soaring Association, flying from Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in Somerset.

Heron Gliding Club is a Service Gliding Club based at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset. We fly most weekends, meeting at our clubhouse before flying. We launch by two methods. Firstly, aerotows - being towed by our Motor Falke (motorglider) generally up to 2000ft. Secondly, autotows - being launched into the air by a long cable attached to our powerful tow car. We are one of only two clubs to use the au

totow, the other club is Seahawk Gliding Club at RNAS Culdrose! All instruction is provided free of charge, and all instructors are BGA rated. Trial Lessons are available at £70 for civilians, and for only £5 for Service personnel.

Heron Gliding Club are very sad to hear of the closure of our sister club, Portsmouth Naval Gliding Centre.

We offer our support to any of our fellow pilots at this time and of course invite them to continue their flying at Heron if this is achievable. We also send our best wishes to all the club members and officers at this difficult time.

Sam went to visit Mendip GC yesterday and experienced ridge flying! With reciprocal membership with several clubs, there is no limit to being a pilot with Heron Gliding Club - our trial flights are £70, get in touch if you want to experience flight!
