A huge congratulations to Tom Dale on successfully completing his Joinery Apprenticeship! 👏🎉

Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of an exciting career in the trade. Completing an apprenticeship takes dedication, resilience, a willingness to learn and countless hours of hard work, and Tom has shown all of those qualities every step of the way.

Apprentices keep getting younger… 😅

Well… maybe not quite yet!

Seeing the next generation around the workshop reminds us why we love what we do.

At R&E Falkingham Joinery, we’re more than just a joinery company, we’re a family business. We believe in giving young people opportunities to learn a skill, build confidence and create a career they can be proud of.

This week has been a proud one.

👏 One of our apprentices has officially qualified.

👏 We’re also welcoming another young person for a trial, taking the first steps into what could become an exciting career.

Moments like these remind us why apprenticeships matter.

A trade gives you something for life. You earn while you learn, gain real experience, work alongside skilled craftspeople and develop skills that can open doors for decades to come.

Would you believe this stunning arched balcony and floor to ceiling glazing is built from timber that will never rot, warp, or swell?

Take a look at our latest project. A sweeping arched Accoya window and door set, topped with a curved Juliet style balcony, all handcrafted right here at R&E Falkingham.
We chose Accoya for this one because a project this ambitious needed a timber that could match the design. The huge arched glazing unit, the door leading out onto the balcony, and every joint in between had to stay razor straight for decades, not just for the first few winters.
Here is why Accoya makes that possible. It starts life as sustainably sourced timber that goes through a process called acetylation, which changes the wood at a cellular level. The result is a timber that swells and shrinks up to four times less than standard joinery timber, so frames stay true and paintwork lasts far longer between repaints. It is rated Class 1 for durability, the highest rating there is, and it comes backed by a 50 year warranty above ground. For a homeowner, that means no more sticking doors, no more cracked paint after one wet Yorkshire winter, and windows that still look this sharp in 30 years’ time.
Combine that with our own joinery, built to the exact curve of this arch and finished by hand, and you get a feature that is not just beautiful on day one but built to stay that way.

Sash windows fit for a castle 🏰

This grade-listed property in North Yorkshire needed windows that could hold their own against the architecture, and we weren’t going to let it down.

Every sash here is bespoke, handcrafted in our workshop and fitted to match the building’s original character while bringing it up to modern thermal standards. Swipe through to see the fit and finish up close, and that view from the window seat.

The windows and doors look fabulous. Everyone we engaged with throughout the process was highly personable, knowledgeable and attentive—very much mirroring your own approach.

The ease with which the whole project unfolded really belies the professionalism, structure and effort you instil in your team, and great credit goes to you both for that.

Works of this magnitude were a big decision for us, both financially and practically, and we always felt this was fully respected. As I mentioned previously, I spent a long time looking for a business who we felt we would be comfortable working with.

We wanted an owner‑managed, ideally family‑run company, where we could engage directly at owner level throughout—and with the two of you we found that in abundance, from initial advice and guidance, through planning, and ultimately installation.

Outside of yourselves, Phil, Dan and Tom were the faces of the business for us, and they represented you proudly with the same commitment, as is clear the whole team, carry in maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism.

Your structures and processes were transparent and clearly designed to support both sides. The timeline was clear from the outset and adhered to throughout, which greatly helped our own planning.

The open provision of deposit protection insurance added further transparency and instilled confidence and trust on both sides.
