3D-printed motor support for an industrial five-axis robot 🤖
Material: ABS GF (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Glass Fiber)
Requirements: high strengthness and durability, heat stability, electrically insulating property.

Five-axis robots are a type of articulated robot widely used in manufacturing. Their design features a single robotic manipulator (a kind of robot arm) attached to a rotating base. Each axis is responsible for a specific movement like rotating, lifting, etc, so these robots have five degrees of freedom. Five-axis robots can be deployed for a number of robotic applications, e.g. assembly, palletizing, automated packaging and automated pick and place.🦾

Reverse engineering with us

Reverse engineering based on creation of design information from existing physical samples.
This method enables users to replicate an object with the help of 3D printing.
We scan a 3-dimensional object and convert it into a file which can then be 3D printed to get an exact replica of the prime object. So the reverse engineering consists of the following four steps:
1. 3D scanning of the desired object
2. 3D modeling and slcing. In other words, the process of creation a 3D file and preparing it to the printing.
3. Manufacturing, i.e. reproducing an object using 3D printing.
4. Testing. Checking the object’s conformity to the sample and client’s requirements like the dimensions accuracy, quaility of the surface, textures, etc.

თითბერში ჩამოსხმული დავითის თავი

The fragment of classical statue* is cast in brass.
We used lost plastic casting process, method of metal casting in which a molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created by means of a plastic model. Once the mold is made, the plastic model is melted and drained away.
The model was 3D printed in PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), similar to the one on the picture below.


*David is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance sculpture, created by Michelangelo in XVI xentury.

თერმოპლასტიკური პოლიურეთანი
Thermoplastic polyurethane, or TPU, is a melt-processable thermoplastic elastomer with the characteristics of both plastic and rubber. TPU is widely used because of its advantages like tensile strength and, especially, excellent flexibility. It is twice more flexible than rubber.
This material is a great solution for 3D-printed items for many applications which require the benefits like followings:
• highest resistant for water, oil and grease, sunlight and weather-proof;
• durability and abrasion resistance;
• ability to keep its shape, it doesn’t stretch out even under long-lasting forcing;
• high temperature of melting – above 80 ºC.
On the dark side of TPU’s excellent durability and chemical resistance is its low handling properties.
As you can see on the pics, TPU is great both either for practical purposes or art objects.
