Terberg's first electric 4×4 Tugmaster enters commercial Ro-Ro service.

CLdN has introduced the first fully electric four-wheel-drive Terberg RT253EV Tugmaster into its Ro-Ro operations at the Port of Zeebrugge, marking an important milestone in the transition to zero-emission terminal equipment.

The vehicle entered service on 29 July 2026, supporting CLdN's daily ferry operations between Zeebrugge and the United Kingdom.

Designed for demanding Ro-Ro applications, the RT253EV delivers the power and traction required to tow heavy trailers up vessel ramps while producing zero tailpipe emissions, reducing noise and improving operator comfort.

The global market for four-wheel-drive Ro-Ro terminal tractors is highly specialised, making Terberg's fully electric 4×4 Tugmaster a significant development for operators seeking to reduce emissions without compromising performance.

The RT253EV features a transmission-free electric drivetrain with regenerative braking technology, improving energy efficiency while reducing brake wear and maintenance. It builds on more than a decade of Terberg's experience in electric terminal tractor development.

Initially operating alongside CLdN's existing diesel fleet, the RT253EV will help evaluate electric 4×4 terminal tractor performance in one of the Ro-Ro sector's most demanding environments as part of CLdN's wider fleet renewal and decarbonisation programme.

CLdN a mis en service le premier Terberg RT253EV Tugmaster 100 % électrique à quatre roues motrices au port de Zeebrugge, marquant une étape importante dans l'électrification des équipements portuaires.

Conçu pour les opérations Ro-Ro exigeantes, le RT253EV offre de hautes performances, zéro émission à l'échappement, un niveau sonore réduit et un meilleur confort pour l'opérateur. Équipé d'une transmission électrique avec freinage régénératif, il améliore également l'efficacité énergétique tout en réduisant les besoins de maintenance.

Le véhicule sera exploité aux côtés de la flotte diesel existante de CLdN afin d'évaluer les performances des tracteurs de terminal électriques 4×4 dans des conditions d'exploitation réelles.

Paterson Simons was proud to attend the 2026 Manitou Mining Days at Manitou's headquarters in Ancenis, France, where dealers, subsidiaries and mining specialists from around the world came together to discuss the future of mining equipment.

The event focused on innovation, collaboration and the evolving needs of the mining industry, with valuable discussions helping to shape the next generation of Manitou mining telehandlers. It also provided an opportunity to explore Manitou's dedicated mining range, designed to deliver safe, reliable and productive performance in some of the world's most demanding operating environments.

As Manitou's authorised dealer for West & Central Africa, Paterson Simons is proud to support customers with specialised mining telehandlers backed by genuine parts, technical expertise and comprehensive after-sales service.

It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Baptiste Godard, now Vice President of Fleet Sales & Key Accounts at Manitou. Baptiste worked closely with the Paterson Simons team in Ghana in 2011 to help develop the first Manitou telehandlers with dedicated mining specifications. Fifteen years later, our partnership continues to drive innovation for the mining industry.

We also gained an exciting insight into Manitou's future product roadmap, including plans to expand the mining telehandler range and continue the electrification of construction equipment.

Paterson Simons has successfully completed the installation of Fogmaker International AB fire suppression systems on four Grove Cranes all-terrain cranes at Mobicrane Limited

The project included installations on:

• Grove GMK4100L
• Grove GMK5200L
• Grove GMK6300L
• Grove GMK6400

Alongside the installations, our technicians received practical, hands-on training, further strengthening our capability to deliver future Fogmaker installations and ongoing customer support.

Using high-pressure water mist technology, Fogmaker systems help rapidly suppress fires, minimise equipment damage, reduce downtime and enhance operator safety.

This project also marks Mobicrane Ghana Ltd as the first crane rental company in Ghana to equip its fleet with Fogmaker fire suppression systems.

Paterson Simons has successfully completed the installation of advanced Fogmaker International AB fire suppression systems on four Konecranes Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes at Benin Terminal in Cotonou, Benin.

Working alongside Fogmaker specialists Holger Pfriem and Simon Lindquist, our engineers installed complete fire suppression systems to protect the diesel engine houses and electrical rooms of RTG 01–04. The project included detection systems, suppression equipment, piping, electrical wiring, alarms, control units, testing and commissioning.

This milestone project strengthens operational safety, protects valuable port assets and marks one of Paterson Simons' first major collaborations with Fogmaker. We’re proud of the professionalism and technical expertise demonstrated by our engineering team.

Our engineers have successfully completed specialised Konecranes Professional Crane Inspection (PCI) training on Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes and Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs).

The programme combined online theory with hands-on practical training in Europe, equipping our team to carry out certified Konecranes PCI inspections independently.

This enhanced capability helps our customers improve safety, maximise equipment uptime, support compliance, and make informed maintenance decisions.

Congratulations to all the participants, and thank you to trainers Marvin Jenneman, Matthias Pehl and Tuomas Kivistö!

Engineers from Pasico Ghana and Mobicrane Limited recently completed GMK2.1 and Introduction to GMK3.1 training in Ghana, held over two weeks at the Pasico office and Mobicrane yard.

The combined theory and practical programme introduced participants to Grove GMK all-terrain crane technology, covering carrier systems, MegaTrak suspension, steering, crane controls, load moment limitation, boom systems and troubleshooting techniques. Practical sessions on a Grove GMK5130-2 reinforced key concepts through live demonstrations.

The training brought together engineers from Pasico, Mobicrane and the mining sector, further strengthening technical expertise and aftermarket support capabilities across the region.

Congratulations to all participants, and thank you to Grove trainer Mirco Minoccheri for sharing his expertise.
