During a fireside chat at Ghana Energy Week, I called on my fellow Ministers of Energy and Petroleum across the continent to take inspiration from Ghana by prioritising natural gas as the primary fuel source for both industrialisation and domestic consumption.

I urged policymakers to adopt innovative approaches and implement sustainable policy frameworks that does not only attract investment but also serve national interests, building long-term confidence in the energy sector.

Getting the policy and regulatory framework right from the outset is crucial. There are no shortcuts in this sector, especially as gas continues to emerge as a vital resource, not just for Ghana, but for Africa as a whole.

I also emphasised the importance of embedding Local Content in energy policies to build domestic capacity, facilitate knowledge transfer, and strengthen local economies.

Finally, I reiterated Ghana’s firm commitment to sharing our experiences and insights with our sister countries as we work together toward a sustainable energy future for Africa.
