The Director of CSIR-CRI, Prof. Maxwell Darko Asante, led a team from CSIR-CROPS RESEARCH INSTITUTE, with the CEO and staff of Arima Farms, to attend Awukudae at the Manhyia Palace. The delegation also included Catholic Priests from the Kumawu Diocese, who have offered land to Arima Farms for the cultivation of wheat.
They paid homage to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the King of Ashanti, and shared the exciting news that wheat can now be grown in Ashanti Region and across the country. The Director, Prof. Maxwell Darko Asante, commends Dr. Felix Frimpong the lead scientist, for leading the wheat research at CSIR-CRI.
The Team had the privilege of conversing with His Royal Majesty and showcasing some products from the outstanding work CSIR-CRI is doing. Beyond wheat, The Team presented seeds and grains of rice, maize, soybean, and cowpea to the King.
His Royal Majesty expressed strong support for the work and emphasized that Research and Development should be mainstreamed into Government Policies.
The excitement about His Royal Majesty Otumfuo’s endorsement of the work of CSIR-CRI will encourage the institute and its scientists to work even harder.
