Giorgos Managoudis launched our professional development, when he moved from Chios to Athens in 1969 and started working as a plumber’s assistant. He quickly brought together his own crew and a few years later he went into partnership with a mechanical engineer to grow his business with regard to

b) the vertical extent of the production process from the design to its implementation on site, where he started working. A surprising performance of a skilled worker made him quickly reconsider his view about the value of seemingly humble tasks in the building project and realize that the height to which, we can raise the bar of technical ambitions, is a matter of passion for the profession. At this stage he decided to turn his enthusiasm for the profession into action and allied with his like-minded fellow Vasilis Karteris in 1988. A little later, he started convey the zeal for the business to his son and current CEO of ICON Group, Dimitris Managoudis. The company is gradually becoming an ICON of family business and the second generation of initial fellow partners is currently represented also by the CTO of ICON Group, Dimitris Karteris. ICON Group is meanwhile employing 70 people of various skills and disciplines. Among them, there are descendants of former subcontractors or relatives of the initial fellow partners. The element of family remains the force of cohesion among all members of ICON Group team.

SANHA NiroTherm®
the way far-sighted experts make solar heat a hit

Solar Heat is a key RES on the way towards zero emission buildings - ZEBs from 01/01/2030 according to the incumbent Energy Performance of Buildings Directive - EPBD.

Besides HVAC and DHW equipment, a supplementary technological infrastructure, supporting harvesting renewable energy and consequently the energy self-sufficiency of ZEBs will be integrated into them and tacitly extend facility services to a new sort of indispensable utility services.

ICON Group is preparing for the lurking chasm, this transition will inflict upon gen beta buildings, as many of them, which are currently under construction or in the design process will not fulfil the ZEB requirements and become outdated very soon and on 1. January 2030 at the very latest.

In this context we select our partners accordingly, put particular weight on the rationalization of maintenance of RES harvesting installations and are proud of our partnership with SANHA and glad to provide technical support to aspiring pipe fitters and engineers about applications of SANHA stainless piping systems.

The deployment of the NiroTherm® piping system, consisting of recyclable stainless pipes and accessories, in the University of Athens Student Dormitories (FEPA), which will prevent a lot of unnecessary maintenance of the respective installation of solar collectors there, is a first step forward to the above suggested direction and an indication about the impact of details on the integrity of relevant facilities.

Her studies in business administration intertwined with the subtlety of “Austrian” flair, according to the prevailing perception of people from her place of origin, the cosmopolitan harbour city of Volos, makes her the ideal liaison with candidate members of our expanding team. Anna is not only a passive witness of the transformation of ICON Group to an exemplary Design + Build entity. She actively and wholeheartedly adapted fast to consequent changes and remains a reliable key supporter of ICON Group expansion plan.

PASS THE HOT POTATO TO US!
temperature is where we feel in our waters

Architecture is the quality of spaces, which imparts to them the power to affect our Τemper. Mean Radiant Temperature can be seen by the “Eyes of the Skin”, as the Finish architect Juhani Pallasmaa implied in his namesake groundbreaking work, 30 years ago. Our body struggles to maintain its thermal equilibrium with the surrounding by dissipating heat generated by human metabolism. If this exothermic behaviour of our body is undermined its temperature rises to the detriment of thermal comfort.

At IconGroup we have thermal comfort at our fingertips, as the thermographic documentation of the latter, belonging to Mary Kyriaki Fragkouli, clearly reaffirms, according to relevant expectations from a state of typical thermal neutrality. And this is how by putting the heat engines of our bodies in neutral, we also manage to save energy.

35.3 o C is the temperature of the fingers of our people at work in this summer period, while the facade wall temperature at 16:00 is 36.4 o C degrees and the temperature of the respective indoor wall is 27.6 o C. At the same time the overall noise level in our offices amounts to values clearly below 40 dB, which has to be largely attributed to the low air velocity of our therefore accordingly selected displacement ventilation, supported by a respectively designed Underfloor Air Distribution system.

Coolness won 🏀
Red champion on the throne 🏆

The Peace and Friendship Stadium is 40 years old. Its chillers are of the same age. Technical staff use to call them by the nickname “grannies”.
Icon Group was engaged in providing its “aged care” services to the legendary “grannies” over the period of the game "Olympiacos B.C. – Panathinaikos BC” last Saturday.

Our highly experienced master Giorgos Papoutsoglou exercised his art of being cool under challenging conditions and ICON’s contribution to the smooth operation of the stadium, with regard to its cooling remained inconspicuous, as nobody noticed the adversity of the “grannies” in the technical facility rooms. This event has been a historic example about how Sustainability can be put at stake, if technical staff is not „past-proof”, before a new technology takes over.
