Marine boilers don't fail suddenly. They lose performance gradually and quietly.
Scale and fouling reduce heat transfer. Combustion-side deposits raise stack temperatures and fuel consumption. Over time, what looks like a working boiler is operating well below its design point — burning more fuel, generating more emissions and edging closer to tube damage.
Proper chemical cleaning restores the boiler to its operating baseline. Improper cleaning shortens its life.
Marine boilers should be chemically cleaned at every drydock. Not as a maintenance fix but as standard engineering practice.
