Με μεγάλη χαρά πραγματοποιήσαμε το σεμινάριο “Protein Design in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” στα Ψηφιακά Συστήματα στη Λάρισα του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του σεμιναρίου, παρουσιάσαμε τα λογισμικά και τα εργαλεία που χρησιμοποιεί το Dry Lab της ομάδας μας, εξερευνώντας πώς η τεχνητή νοημοσύνη συμβάλλει στον σύγχρονο σχεδιασμό πρωτεϊνών και ανοίγει νέους δρόμους στη βιοτεχνολογία.

Ευχαριστούμε θερμά όλους όσοι συμμετείχαν και έδειξαν ενδιαφέρον για την επιστήμη, την καινοτομία και το μέλλον της έρευνας. 🦋💙

We were delighted to host the seminar “Protein Design in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” at the Department of Digital Systems in Larissa, University of Thessaly.

During the seminar, we presented the software and tools used by our team’s Dry Lab, exploring how artificial intelligence contributes to modern protein design and opens new paths in biotechnology.

🦋 iGEM Thessaly στην 45η ΕΕΒΕ

Με μεγάλη χαρά παρουσιάσαμε το Project Reveal 2026 στο 45ο Συνέδριο της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Βιολογικών Επιστημών, μοιραζόμενοι το όραμά μας για την αντιμετώπιση των υποτροπιαζουσών ουρολοιμώξεων μέσω της συνθετικής βιολογίας.

Μέσα από τη μηχανική του μικροβιώματος, στοχεύουμε να εξερευνήσουμε καινοτόμες προσεγγίσεις πέρα από την επαναλαμβανόμενη χρήση αντιβιοτικών, ανοίγοντας νέες προοπτικές για την πρόληψη και τη θεραπεία των rUTIs.

Από την ιδέα στον αντίκτυπο — ευχαριστούμε όλους όσοι μας άκουσαν, μας στήριξαν και μας ενέπνευσαν! 💙

🦋 iGEM Thessaly at the 45th HSBSc

We were excited to present our Project Reveal 2026 at the 45th Conference of the Hellenic Society of Biological Sciences, sharing our vision for addressing recurrent Urinary Tract Infections through synthetic biology.

Through microbiome engineering, we aim to explore innovative approaches beyond repeated antibiotic use, opening new perspectives for rUTI prevention and treatment.

1 iGEMer, 25 μαθητές και μια συζήτηση γεμάτη προβληματισμούς 🧬

Στο 9ο Λύκειο Λάρισας είχαμε την ευκαιρία να μιλήσουμε με τους μαθητές για τη συνθετική βιολογία, το iGEM και τα βιοηθικά ερωτήματα που προκύπτουν από τις σύγχρονες επιστημονικές εξελίξεις.

Μέσα από την παρουσίαση και τη συζήτηση, οι μαθητές μοιράστηκαν τις σκέψεις τους για τις γενετικές παρεμβάσεις, τα όρια της επιστήμης και τον τρόπο με τον οποίο η βιολογία μπορεί να επηρεάσει το μέλλον μας.

Ευχαριστούμε πολύ το 9ο Λύκειο Λάρισας για τη φιλοξενία και τη συμμετοχή! 🦋

At the 9th High School of Larissa, we had the opportunity to talk with students about synthetic biology, iGEM, and the bioethical questions raised by today’s scientific advances.

Through the presentation and discussion, students shared their thoughts on genetic interventions, the limits of science, and how biology can shape our future.

Πώς μπορούμε να “προγραμματίσουμε” τη ζωή; 🧬

Με αυτή την ερώτηση ξεκινήσαμε τη δράση μας “Get to Know SymBio: Programming Life” στο 10ο και 14ο Γυμνάσιο Λάρισας, όπου οι μαθητές γνώρισαν τις βασικές αρχές της συνθετικής βιολογίας.

Μέσα από παραδείγματα, συζήτηση και διαδραστικά εργαλεία, συνδέσαμε τη συνθετική βιολογία με το φετινό μας project για τις ουρολοιμώξεις. Οι μαθητές εξερεύνησαν το 3D bladder model, χρησιμοποίησαν το circuit builder software και σχεδίασαν τα δικά τους βιολογικά κυκλώματα.

Ευχαριστούμε πολύ τα σχολεία για τη φιλοξενία και τους μαθητές για τη συμμετοχή τους! 💙

How can we “program” life? 🧬

This was the question behind our activity “Get to Know SymBio: Programming Life” at the 10th and 14th Middle Schools of Larissa, where students were introduced to the basic principles of synthetic biology.

Through examples, discussion and interactive tools, we connected synthetic biology with our project on urinary tract infections. Students explored the 3D bladder model, used the circuit builder software and designed their own biological circuits.

A big thank you to the schools for welcoming us and to the students for their participation! 💙

📒✨ Designing Bacteria & PlayBio στα Δημοτικά Σχολεία της Λάρισας! 🧬🦠

Η iGEM Thessaly επισκέφθηκε το 27ο και 43ο Δημοτικό Σχολείο Λάρισας, φέρνοντας τους μαθητές πιο κοντά στον μικροβιακό κόσμο, το ουροποιητικό σύστημα και τη σημασία του μικροβιώματος.

Μέσα από δημιουργικές δραστηριότητες, τα παιδιά σχεδίασαν τα δικά τους “super bacteria”, συνδυάζοντας επιστήμη και φαντασία. 🎨🔬

Ευχαριστούμε θερμά τους μαθητές και τους εκπαιδευτικούς για τη φιλοξενία και τον ενθουσιασμό τους! 💙

Σήμερα, γιορτάζουμε όλες τις μητέρες του κόσμου, όλες τις γυναίκες που χαρίζουν στην ανθρωπότητα το πιο όμορφο δώρο: την ζωή.

Η εγκυμοσύνη και η μητρότητα αποτελούν περιόδους εντυπωσιακών μεταβολών, τόσο συναισθηματικών όσο και βιολογικών, για μια γυναίκα. Η μητρότητα δεν περιορίζεται μόνο στη γέννηση ενός παιδιού, αποτελεί μια διαδικασία έντονης αναπροσαρμογής και για το σώμα της ίδιας της μητέρας.

Τα συναισθηματικά οφέλη της μητρότητας είναι ευρέως αναγνωρισμένα, τι γνωρίζουμε όμως για τη βιολογική της διάσταση;

Με αφορμή την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα της Μητέρας, επιλέγουμε να αναδείξουμε τα βιολογικά οφέλη που προσφέρει στο γυναικείο σώμα αυτή η πολύτιμη και τρυφερή εμπειρία!
