At , we believe some of the best moments happen when we step away from our daily routines and spend quality time together. Following a great initiative from our Green-Action Team, we recently enjoyed a day in beautiful Nemea.

Our first stop was the Archaeological Site of Nemea, where we explored the Temple of Zeus and the ancient stadium, before heading to Gofas Winery for a guided tour, w**e tasting, and lunch.

While the location and experiences were wonderful, it was the laughter, conversations, and time shared as a team that made the day truly special. Strengthening the relationships that bring us together is something we genuinely value, and days like this are a meaningful part of that.

A big thank you to our Green-Action Team for the idea and to everyone who joined and made it a day to remember enjoying each other's company outside the office.

OCEANKING took part in the 25th Navigator Forum 2026, where we had the opportunity to contribute to the forum’s decarbonization panel. Carola Yannouli, our General Manager, set out a practical view of where maritime decarbonization stands today. Proven solutions are already delivering measurable reductions in vessels’ carbon footprint. Better performance data is what will accelerate their adoption.

Although we are not by any means at the end of the decarbonization process, we have reached a level of maturity where several proven solutions can deliver immediate and measurable savings in a vessel’s carbon footprint. Among the solutions she pointed to:

• High-efficiency propellers
• Shaft Generators
• Energy storage systems
• Electric Heaters
• High-efficiency fans and variable frequency drives (VFDs)

These examples demonstrate that the industry already has a toolbox of practical, commercially available solutions capable of delivering considerable emission reductions today.

A recurring barrier to adoption, she noted, has been the lack of transparency around actual performance of installed solutions. Today, however, we are seeing positive progress.

One example is the joint development project has facilitated between Laskaridis Shipping, bound4blue and Bureau Veritas, aimed at establishing a credible, transparent and technically robust process for evaluating the integration of the technology on Laskaridis’ vessels. Independent verification of this kind — classification society, technology provider and owner working to a shared, auditable method — is exactly what builds the confidence needed for wider uptake.

The technologies to reduce emissions are here. Trustworthy data on how they perform in service is what will turn proven solutions into standard ones.

OCEANKING was glad to take part in the 20th Annual Conference on Maritime Technology of the Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology (ELINT), held on 6–7 October at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens, contributing to this year’s programme on both days.

On 6 October, our Naval Architect and Marine Engineer Kyriakos Kapidis gave a presentation titled “Suction Sails: A WASP solution driving decarbonization and minimising operational costs,” exploring wind-assisted propulsion and, in particular, the suction eSAILs developed by2 bound4blue.

In the first part of the presentation, we focused on the key technical features that distinguish eSAILs, highlighting the benefits of their simple structural and mechanical design, which enables easy operation, high liability, and reduced maintenance requirements. In the second part we emphasized their proven efficiency and retrofit-friendly installation process, with on-deck fitting completed at a rate of up to two eSAILs per day, minimizing vessel downtime and facilitating seamless integration into existing fleets.

Additionally, special reference was made to the efficiency results achieved through the installation of 4 eSAILs on an Odfjell-owned MR Tanker, resulting in the significant 15 tons CO2 emission reduction, 15-20% energy savings and an 18% reduction of fuel consumption for cross-pacific routes.

The following day, October 7th, our President Panos Yannoulis served as moderator for Session 2.2 of the conference’s scientific programme. The session featured four scientific papers.

We truly value participating in both areas of ELINT, the technical and scientific, as it brings together practical experience and research, both essential to the future of shipping industry.

Recently, our team had the opportunity to participate in a technical training program at HEATMASTER, a Dutch company with experience in designing and manufacturing thermal fluid, hot water and steam heating systems and heat recovery systems for the marine and industrial sectors.

The training provided valuable insight into HEATMASTER's solutions, with a particular focus on hot water systems, thermal oil systems and heat recovery technologies. Beyond the classroom sessions, one of the most valuable parts of the experience was visiting three vessels under construction, where we could see the systems being installed and gain a better understanding of their integration and operation on board.

At OCEANKING, we believe that strong technical knowledge strengthens our ability to support shipowners and shipyards throughout the lifecycle of their projects.

This week, we were glad to welcome our partners from Musasino, who visited Greece to meet with partners and clients across the maritime market. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange insights, discuss technological developments, and explore how we can continue supporting shipowners with reliable and future-ready solutions

Musasino is a Japanese manufacturer specialising in marine tank level gauging and monitoring, with more than 60 years in the field and systems installed on around 4,000 vessels worldwide.

As always, it was a pleasure to spend time face-to-face with the people behind the technologies that OCEANKING proudly represent.

SMM 2026 was a busy and rewarding week for us.

The OCEANKING team was in Hamburg throughout the fair, meeting with partners, catching up with familiar faces, and getting a first-hand look at the newest developments across the industry. We came away with a great deal to build on — productive conversations, new ideas, and the groundwork for cooperations we look forward to sharing in the months ahead.

The sea is at the centre of everything we do, and protecting it is a responsibility we take seriously — part of why we are proud members of HELMEPA - Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association, and its mission to safeguard the seas.

This summer, as many of us spend time by the water, it is worth remembering how much depends on keeping the ocean clean.

There has been a lot of focus lately on technologies for a more sustainable maritime industry. This short video from Euronews and the European Commission is a good reminder of why that matters — and of how much work it takes to get there.

The blue economy covers everything that depends on the sea: maritime transport, fishing, tourism, aquaculture, and ocean energy. Across the EU, these sectors generated €624 billion and supported 3.6 million jobs in 2021. For Greece, it is not a distant policy term. It is tied to the sea that has shaped our history, our work, and our place in the world.

The video also makes an honest point: many of the solutions still face real obstacles to scaling — from infrastructure to supply chains. Progress is not automatic, and not every promising technology is ready today.

That is why, at OCEANKING, we focus on technologies that are already delivering — proven at sea, while continuing to evolve. Working alongside Greek and international shipowners, we consider the sea not only as the foundation of our industry but also as a responsibility we share.

The oceans regulate our climate, feed billions, and connect the world. Their sustainability matters to everyone — and few industries are as tied to it, or as responsible for it, as ours.

That responsibility is now also a commercial one. According to the OECD, international shipping accounted for around 2.5% of energy-related CO₂ emissions in 2024, and with FuelEU Maritime, the EU ETS, and the IMO's targets in force, efficiency and emissions are shaping both operating costs and asset values.

At OCEANKING, we have invested in building a dedicated decarbonization portfolio. No single technology answers the challenge on its own, so we have focused on partnerships across several areas such as wind-assisted propulsion, electrification, hybrid systems and energy storage, propulsion optimisation, waste heat recovery and heating systems.
