The future of East Macedonia and Thrace as an energy hub, enabling energy diversification and regional development was a major topic during the 4th East Macedonia & Thrace Forum, organized by Τsomokos Communications
Eleni Bairami, CEO of ECO Hellas, tackled the issue, highlighting the importance and advantages of biogas/biomethane investments in the region, enabling local growth, job retention and energy sovereignty.
Together with Geoffrey Pyatt, Corina Crețu, Konstantinos Sifnaios, Vladimir Malinov and George Kremlis, Eleni Bairami discussed how geopolitical developments act as a catalyst, highlighting international investments in a strategic region of the country.

ECO Hellas CEO Eleni Bairami participated in the Athens Energy Summit 2026, contributing to the high‑level panel:
"Placing Green Gases in the Market: Commercialization of Hydrogen, Biomethane and BioLNG.”

The panel brought together distinguished representatives from the international energy community, including George Pagoulatos (Ambassador, Permanent Delegation of Greece to the OECD), Dimitrios Triantafyllopoulos (CEO, Hellenic Hydrogen) and Ulrich Laumanns (Project Manager, GIZ), and was moderated by Dimitris Pefanis (CNN Greece).

During the discussion, it was emphasized that biogas and biomethane are not future concepts—they are fully deployable, scalable solutions that provide immediate decarbonization, enhance grid resilience and support a sustainable circular economy.

A central message of the panel was the urgent need for a robust and coherent national framework, ensuring regulatory clarity and investment confidence to align Greece with EU green‑gas targets and accelerate market development.

Mrs Eleni Bairami, CEO of ECO Hellas - Renewable Energies South East Europe participated in the 2nd Thessaloniki Investment Forum, organized by CNN Greece, as a panelist in the session dedicated to the energy upgrade of Northern Greece.
Together with Mr athanasios paspaliaris from HELLENiQ ENERGY and Konstantinos Gkouramanis from TÜV NORD Hellas, she discussed the opportunities and challenges of green transition in Northern Greece as well as the impact of “green gases” in the energy mix.
Mrs Bairami focused on the regulatory framework as a prerequisite for investments, highlighting the need for clear tariffs or compensation algorithms in order to accelerate development. She also mentioned the positive impact of biogas/biomethane investment in local communities, especially in Northern Greece, since the projects can hinder brain drain and accelerate brain regain in border regions.

In the panel on "Hydrogen, Biomethane, Green gases and, CCUS" Mrs Eleni Bairami, CEO of ECO HELLAS focused on the role of biomethane as a pillar of stability for local communities as well as its role in the energy mix.

Regarding recent regulations, she stated that it is a catalyst for growth so Greece can keep pace with EU trends and stated that a clear compensation mechanism is vital for sustainable investments and business plans.

Στην ανανέωση της οδικής σήμανσης σε περιοχές κοντά σε σχολεία και νηπιαγωγεία της Ιεράπετρας προχώρησε η ECO Hellas, αναγνωρίζοντας έμπρακτα ότι η ασφάλεια των παιδιών γύρω από τα σχολεία αποτελεί προτεραιότητα για κάθε κοινωνία. Οι διαβάσεις πεζών είναι ένα κρίσιμο εργαλείο για την προστασία των μαθητών, καθώς προσφέρουν ένα ασφαλές σημείο διέλευσης και υπενθυμίζουν στους οδηγούς να είναι ιδιαίτερα προσεκτικοί και η τακτική ανανέωσή τους ενισχύει το ρόλο και τη σημασία τους.

Η δράση αυτή εντάσσεται στο ευρύτερο πρόγραμμα Εταιρικής Υπευθυνότητας της ECO Hellas, τόσο εντός της ευρύτερης περιοχής του Λασιθίου αλλά και σε όλη την Ελλάδα, όπου δραστηριοποιείται. Στόχος της εταιρείας είναι η ενημέρωση των τοπικών κοινωνιών για τα οφέλη των μονάδων βιοαερίου που αναπτύσσει, αλλά και η προσφορά στις κοινότητες με τρόπο που προωθεί τη βιωσιμότητα, την ασφάλεια αλλά και την υγεία.

Σημειώνεται ότι η ECO Hellas αναπτύσσει δύο
μονάδες παραγωγής βιοαερίου σε Ιεράπετρα και Σητεία, συνολικής ισχύος 2Megawatt. Οι εν λόγω μονάδες βοηθούν τους τοπικούς παραγωγούς να ανακυκλώσουν τα υπολείμματα από τα θερμοκήπια καθώς και τα ελαιοτριβεία της περιοχής να διαθέσουν τον κατσίγαρο, παράγοντας «πράσινη» ενέργεια και βιολογικό λίπασμα, ακολουθώντας το μοντέλο της κυκλικής οικονομίας. Παράλληλα, η ECO Hellas έχει ήδη δημιουργήσει πλήθος θέσεων εργασίας στο στάδιο της κατασκευής των μονάδων, ενώ αντίστοιχα σχεδιάζει να προσλάβει σημαντικό αριθμό εργαζομένων από την περιοχή και κατά τη φάση της λειτουργίας.

Last Friday ECO Hellas sponsored and participated in the 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺, co-organized by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Hellenic Association for Energy Economics - HAEE.

During the conference, Mrs. Eleni Bairami, Managing Director of ECO Hellas - Renewable Energies South East Europe discussed “Renewables in the Crossroads-Grid and Energy Storage Challenges”, together with Mr. George Laloumis, Regional Managing Director, MEA & Greece, M Renewables, Metlen, Mr. Dr.-Ing.George Pechlivanoglou, General Director, Eunice Energy Group and Mr. Alexandros Giannis, CEO, ECOERA Group.

In the panel, moderated by Mr. Spiros Papaefthimiou, President, Hellenic Association for Energy Economics – HAEE, Eleni discussed the new regulatory framework regarding bio methane and biogas as well as the importance of such projects as a practical manifestation of circular economy and a sustainable storage method.
