We are very happy to see Shared Ground featured by DesignWanted.

The article looks beyond the image of the traditional Greek village and explores the principles behind it: community, landscape, topography, gradual growth and the idea of the geitonia.

This was exactly the starting point of Shared Ground. Not to reproduce vernacular architecture, but to understand the intelligence behind settlements that evolved naturally over time and translate those principles into a contemporary hospitality masterplan.

SHARED GROUND
Collective Living

The village condition defines the spatial logic of the project.
Three housing typologies are organised into small clusters, forming informal neighbourhoods around shared outdoor cores for gathering, dining and rest.
At the centre, an elevated plaza brings together communal functions—restaurant, café and retail—acting as the social heart of the settlement.
The design balances openness and retreat, supporting both collective life and individual privacy within a continuous landscape of shared spaces.

A Contemporary Settlement

The proposal unfolds as a tourist accommodation complex conceived as a contemporary echo of traditional settlement patterns.
Volumes are dispersed and gently rotated, avoiding rigid order. Curved geometries follow the terrain, allowing the composition to appear as if it has grown over time. Rather than imposing form, the project is shaped by the landscape. A new settlement emerges—rooted in the logic of place, yet reinterpreting vernacular
intelligence through a contemporary architectural language.
