🚀 Exciting News from IEEE MELECON 2026! 🌍

We’re excited to share that Prof. Athena Vakali represented at the IEEE 23rd Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference (MELECON 2026) in New Cairo, Egypt (Feb 2–4), one of the flagship IEEE Region 8 conferences.

The conference was a unique opportunity to present a novel research contribution of , part of the Skillscapes Project

🌍 Exciting news from Datalab!

We’re proud to share that Prof. Athena Vakali, Director of , has been invited as a keynote speaker at two major international conferences:

🎓 BESC 2025 – Behavioral and Social Computing
💻 AICCSA 2025 – ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications

Her keynote, “Ties-of-Trust in AI: Unravel the Links Between Human Judgment and AI Harms,” explores AI harms, specifically how human cognitive heuristics shape AI systems and their biases. Ethical frameworks that can foster , , and are also discussed.

At AICCSA 2025, Prof. Vakali will additionally join the “Women in STEM”, sharing insights on empowering women in computer science, addressing AI bias, and building inclusive research communities.

👏 Congratulations to Prof. Vakali on these prestigious invitations, a strong recognition of her impactful work on AI!
