Former presidential guard and Special Branch officer Yogendra Sukhdeo was today sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after serving 30 years for the 2023 murder of Amit Singh.

Bissesar Persaud or fondly known as “Biss” was the brother-in-law and one the closest friends of DPIL’s founder, Mr. David Persaud.

He served in the Guyana Police Force for fifteen years and earned the rank of inspector. After migrating to Canada, he built a successful career as a licensed realtor, which he practiced for nearly five decades.

He was known for his strong family values, kindness and commitment to his profession. Mr. Biss was also notably, a respected and devoted member of the Vishnu Mandhir in Toronto.

He is survived by his loving wife Savitri (Savo), his children Nadira, Amar and Rupa and cherished grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all.

Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends particularly in Canada, Guyana and the United States.

Surajdai or fondly known as "Sharda" Khairu was a beloved and irreplaceable member of our team.. the victim of one of the most gruesome, tragic and unthinkable murders was employed at DPIL for 5-6 years... she was a committed and warm individual.. this type of murder wouldn't even feature on any tv show because of its senseless and horrific circumstances. Regardless... they do not take away from her everlasting memory.... colleagues and customers alike can attest to her steadfast dedication and reliability. Our sincerest condolences to her family and friends.
