Việt Nam’s $34.3 billion plastics industry is undergoing a green transition due to strict domestic Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws and European import rules. Relying heavily on raw material imports, the sector must treat plastic waste as a valuable resource to reduce environmental pressure.

To adapt, the Vietnam Plastics Association outlines three strategic priorities. Companies must enhance localized waste collection and sorting, redesign product packaging for easier material recovery, and reduce plastic content wherever possible without compromising the essential functionality of their goods.
