🌟Edinburgh Instruments – Application Note 🌟

Assess GaN quality quickly and non-destructively using photoluminescence!

💡This application note shows steady-state and time-resolved PL measurements performed with an Edinburgh Instruments FLS1000 photoluminescence spectrometer coupled to an external 266 nm picosecond pulsed laser and a high-speed hybrid-PMT detector. Band-edge emission at 365–370 nm shows fast lifetimes, while defect-related emission at ~550 nm exhibits much longer lifetimes , revealing vacancy-related defects.

The FLS1000 + TCSPC/MCS workflow provides a powerful toolkit for characterising GaN material quality for LEDs, power electronics and optoelectronics.
