🌍 International Collaboration through Erasmus+ KA171: Welcoming Visiting PhD Students from China Agricultural University
As part of the Erasmus+ KA171 program, the Lab for Data Engineering and Computational Linguistics at the Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies had the pleasure of hosting two visiting PhD students from China Agricultural University, Sun Yun and Kong Chuiyu, from April 1 to May 31, 2025.
🤝 From Long-Term Cooperation to Joint Publication
This visit built upon an already established research collaboration, which culminated in the publication of a joint scientific paper in Aquaculture (ScienceDirect). The paper, authored by Sun Yun and Kong Chuiyu, was developed under the supervision of associate professor Marija Brkić Bakarić (host mentor), in collaboration with their thesis advisor from China Agricultural University, professor Zhang Xiaoshuan.
🧪 Workshop on Advanced ICT for the Agri-Food Industry
A highlight of the exchange was the Workshop on Advanced ICT for the Agri-Food Industry, held on May 22, 2025. The workshop brought together Visiting students: Sun Yun and Kong Chuiyu and lab members: associate professor Marija Brkić Bakarić, professor Maja Matetić, associate professor Vanja Slavuj, and the head of the lab, associate professor Lucia Načinović Prskalo.
The event focused on AI and data-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture, computational models for agri-environmental data analysis, and smart ICT applications supporting modern food systems.
Participants explored cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of agriculture and food production, fostering discussion and collaboration across disciplinary and geographic boundaries.
🌱 Looking Ahead
This successful exchange exemplifies the value of international academic mobility in advancing research, fostering innovation, and building lasting professional relationships. We extend our gratitude to all participants and look forward to future opportunities for collaboration.
