We are honored to see our Co-Founder and CEO, Jheline Avrilien, recognized for her entrepreneurial journey, outstanding leadership, and unwavering commitment to the sustainable development of Haiti's cocoa sector.

We extend our sincere thanks to the U.S. Embassy in Haiti and to the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative - YLAI and for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) programs for their continued support of Haitian entrepreneurs.

This week, we are highlighting alumna Jheline Avrilien!

Haitians must write their own future, and Jheline is doing exactly that.

A nurse by training and an entrepreneur by vision, Jheline is the Co-Founder and CEO of Choko Lakay, a thriving Haitian company specializing in the local production and processing of cacao. For the past 10 years, she has led the brand's growth from a local venture into an internationally recognized business, exporting to the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.

Her leadership has earned Choko Lakay a cover feature with the Caribbean Export Development Agency, cementing Jheline's place as a leading figure in Caribbean entrepreneurship.

As an alumna of two prestigious U.S. government exchange programs, the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) 2025 and the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2024, Jheline has taken the leadership and business skills she gained and turned them outward. Today, she works directly with a network of 500 cocoa producers organized in local associations, ensuring that 200 of those partner producers are women, actively advancing economic empowerment in her community.

Drawing on her YLAI experience, Jheline now regularly leads leadership and entrepreneurship trainings for young people and graduating vocational students, passing forward the tools that helped her build, Choko Lakay.

"YLAI gave me the tools I needed to grow my business, and now it's my turn to train the next generation of changemakers." Jheline Avrilien

The Caribbean is our first market. The world is our horizon.
Thanks Caribbean Export Development Agency for your support. 🍫 🇭🇹

Export growth starts with access, preparation, and the right connections.

In our latest blog feature from the Annual Results Report 2025, we highlight how Caribbean companies participating in Agroalimentaria advanced commercial discussions, generated buyer interest, and strengthened their readiness for international markets.

The story also reinforces an important reality: some of the region’s greatest export opportunities exist within the Caribbean itself.
