What happens when the workshop ends, but the conversation is too interesting to stop?

At the recent Budapest AI Summit, our colleagues explored why AI is not simply a technology problem during a workshop we featured in an earlier post. Afterwards, we caught up with Zsombor Tőkés for a rapid interview about jobs, accountability and, naturally, AI-generated cat pictures.

Here's what Zsombor said:

Q: Your session was titled "AI Is Not a Technology Problem." What kind of problem is it then?
Zsombor: The biggest challenge today is people's relationship with AI. Many people still don't know where to start or how to engage with it.

Q: What's one thing people worry about when it comes to AI, but shouldn't?
Zsombor: Many people worry that AI will take away their jobs. I don't believe that's true. […] Work will evolve, but that doesn't mean people will become unnecessary.

Q: What's one thing people don't worry about enough?
Zsombor: AI makes it very easy to do things quickly. That convenience can lead people to stop reading carefully, stop taking ownership of their work, and stop verifying what they're producing. […] we risk creating enormous amounts of content that no one actually reads or uses.

Q: Have you ever used AI to generate a cat picture?
Zsombor: Absolutely. Of course I have. 😊

We are happy to share that 37 ExxonMobil employees took part in the 41st SPAR Marathon Running Festival and ran through the beautiful streets and iconic landmarks of Budapest.

For some, it was their very first race. For others, it was an opportunity to push their limits for a personal best.

At the recent AmCham Hungary event, “AI in 2026: Enterprise Strategy in the Age of AI Agents,” experts explored how agentic AI could reshape business strategy, productivity and the future of work.

We were proud to see our colleagues represent ExxonMobil and share their expertise. Cristi Nastase, GenAI Sr. Principal Architect, delivered the keynote speech before joining the panel discussion, moderated by Daniel Galambos, IT Lead Functional Manager. 👏

The key message: choose AI use cases that create measurable value, build governance in from the start, and keep human judgement at the center.

Beyond the Role Expo created opportunities for colleagues to discover the diverse capabilities, expertise, and career journeys that make our organization stronger.

Between sessions, our colleagues connected with teams across the business and explored new areas of work. It was nice to engage in conversations beyond our day-to-day roles. The Expo highlighted the value of sharing knowledge, learning from one another, and building relationships across functions.

We were proud to be part of the 2026 Budapest AI Summit, one of Hungary's leading forums for exploring the future of artificial intelligence.

Over two inspiring days, our colleagues contributed to important conversations around the practical and responsible use of AI:

🎤 András Tardy shared insights on creating business value with AI, emphasizing that success starts with identifying the right business challenges and opportunities.

🎤 Mátyás Meichl and Zsombor Tőkés led an engaging session on navigating AI-driven uncertainty in large organizations, encouraging participants to focus on critical thinking, problem definition, and helping others build AI skills.

Throughout the summit, one message stood out: AI is not the goal. It's a tool that helps people unlock new possibilities, work smarter, and achieve more.

Our Women Interest Network (WIN) hosted an inspiring event for young girls, designed to spark curiosity and excitement for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Throughout the morning, the little scientists engaged in hands-on experiments, built apple batteries, explored electrolysis, navigated a robot maze, and learned coding concepts by programming a "human robot" through step-by-step instructions.

The young innovators had a blast exploring what’s possible in STEM – and so did we!

In partnership with Stone of Help Foundation, our Community Investment Committee invited colleagues to come together for a meaningful cause: providing school supplies for children in need. 📖

We are delighted to share that stationery packs were collected for 50 elementary school students by our employees, helping them begin the new school year prepared and confident.
