Just published an analysis of a fascinating research paper that used machine learning to reveal hidden ideological patterns in academic writing! 🤓
In my new blog post, I examine how the researchers used NLP to analyze thousands of economics papers, revealing they could predict political leanings just from writing style. While their computational methods were solid, I think there's room for more sophisticated approaches using modern transformers and corpus linguistics techniques.
What I found most interesting was connecting this to bigger questions about science and objectivity. How do our tools for analyzing language help us understand how scientific knowledge is constructed and maintained?
