“Our aim is for true empowerment, not programmes that foster dependency. By removing constraints, we can help break the poverty cycle and enable communities to reach their full potential,” says Sihol Aritonang, President Director of PT RAPP, the operating arm of APRIL Group.

One programme in Riau Province is helping turn local potential into real economic resilience through seedling provision, continuous mentoring, and improved access to markets. The programme continues to support communities in building more stable and diversified income streams. In 2024, farmers produced up to 26,000 kilograms of bananas and more than 33,600 pineapples, helping position villages in Riau as emerging agricultural production hubs.

“I joined in 2019 as part of the APRIL Sustainability Professional Readiness (ASPiRE) programme,” says Ika Citra, now a Sustainability Programme Manager. “I was directly involved in formulating APRIL2030, working through each target, baseline, and action plan. Working at APRIL supports my personal goal of learning more about sustainability and putting it into practice."

Ika’s journey shows that with equal opportunities, women can grow into roles that matter and help build a more inclusive, sustainable future.

Since 2015, APRIL has upheld a strict no-deforestation policy under SFMP 2.0, supported by our 1-for-1 forest conservation commitment, conserving one hectare for every hectare planted.

Over the past decade, we’ve achieved:
🌳 1.42 million hectares managed responsibly
🌱 114.4 hectares restored in 2023
📈 50% increase in fibre productivity without expanding land use
