CARA KERJA INJECTOR PADA ENGINE D12.

A. Filling phase
This occurs the entire time that the plunger piston is on the way up. The fuel valve is open since there is no voltage applied to the solenoid valve. Fuel can therefore be drawn from the feed channel, past the open valve and into the plunger cylinder.

B. Waste phase
The pump piston is on the way down. As long as there is no voltage to the solenoid valve, the fuel valve is open and the fuel flows back in to the feed channel.

C. Injection phase
The pump piston is still on the way down. Now the solenoid valve has received voltage from Engine Electronic Control Unit (MID 128) the control unit. The valve cone is lifted and the valve closes. Since fuel cannot pass through the valve, a pressure is quickly built up which lifts the nozzle needle and injection occurs.
Injection continues as long as the valve is closed and the plunger piston is on the way down. The injection timing and fuel quantity is determined by the length of the electrical pulse. It is the EECU (MID 128) which determines the pulse size via the information it receives from the system.

D. Pressure reduction phase
The pump piston is still on the way down. The control unit ends the electrical pulse when the engine hasreceived the amount of fuel needed at that instant. The fuel valve opens and the fuel can once again flow past to the feed channel. The pressure then drops quickly and the nozzle needle closes.

INTERCOOLER & STATER ELEMENT

D12C dilengkapi dengan Intercooler berjenis udara-ke-udara. Intercooler terletak di depan radiator dan mengurangi udara masuk sekitar 100°C.

Udara masuk kemudian memiliki kepadatan yang lebih tinggi, yang berarti lebih banyak bahan bakar dapat disuntikkan.
Hal ini memberikan peningkatan tenaga mesin dan udara yang lebih dingin juga mengurangi tekanan termal pada katup dan piston.

Untuk pasar dengan musim dingin yang dingin, elemen starter elektrik tersedia di sisi masuk.
Elemen tersebut disambungkan saat pengemudi memutar kunci starter ke posisi pra-pemanasan dan suhu cairan pendingin di bawah +10°C.
Waktu pra-pemanasan dan pasca-pemanasan dikontrol oleh sistem kontrol mesin. Keuntungannya adalah penyalaan yang lebih mudah dan lebih sedikit asap putih dalam gas buang.

Lampu indikator pada panel instrumen menyala saat elemen starter disambungkan dan juga digunakan untuk memperingatkan pengemudi jika terjadi kerusakan pada elemen.

CATATAN: Elemen starter untuk D12C tidak boleh diarde. Elemen starter D12A/B tidak dapat digunakan di D12C.
