We’re starting our Meet the Treepro Team series with Darren, our Project Leader.

Darren is always the first one into the office in the morning, often before daylight. From early morning, he is taking calls, organising crews and keeping track of everything happening across the different jobs.

He knows the work inside out, has a memory like a computer and is the person everyone turns to when they need an answer. No matter how busy things get, he always makes time for the lads out on site.

He is also one of the funniest people in the office and never misses a chance to wind the rest of us up.😅

We asked Darren a few questions so you can get to know him a little better.

🔹 Q: WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE AS PROJECT LEADER AT TREEPRO INVOLVE?

As Project Leader, I oversee the planning and delivery of our ESB projects, managing the teams and making sure the work is carried out safely and efficiently to Treepro standards.

🔹 Q: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I enjoy the variety and seeing a project through from start to finish. Getting a job completed well gives me great satisfaction.

🔹 Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING WITH TREEPRO?

I’ve been with Treepro for 28 years now. It has been a journey of constant learning and growth. The industry has changed so much since Francis and I started out, but safety has always remained the main priority in what can be a dangerous industry.

🔹 Q: WHAT MAKES A GOOD TEAM ON SITE?

Clear communication, looking out for each other’s safety, teamwork and a good work ethic. Everyone knowing their role makes for a great team on site..

🔹 Q: TELL US ONE THING YOUR COLLEAGUES MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU.

I really enjoy sport and following Cork GAA. It hasn’t been easy over the last few years, but like everything else, I’ll stick with it!

It takes a team. 🌳💪

Today's job near Innishannon involved dismantling a tree that had suffered significant storm damage after being struck by a neighbouring beech tree. The impact caused it to split at the base, leaving it dangerous and unstable.. With limited options, the safest way to remove it was using a crane.

Gavin carried out the dismantle from the tree, while Jason handled the timber with the mini digger, Stephen looked after the ground saw work, and Alex managed the chipper, making sure the site stayed clear and the operation ran smoothly. It was a proper team effort from start to finish.

Everyone knew their job, got stuck in, and worked together to get it done safely.

A big thank you to Kavanagh Crane Hire Ltd for their support today. It's always a pleasure working alongside another professional team.

Great work by everyone involved. 👏🌳

Some more great pics from the recent crane job in Passage West 🌲

This operation involved sectional dismantling of large mature beech trees using a crane-assisted rigging setup to safely remove and control heavy timber sections.

Jobs like this rely on precise communication between climber, crane operator and ground crew, with every lift carefully planned before a saw is even started.

Definitely one of the more technical sides of arboriculture.
