St Brendan's Church Mausoleum Conservation Project, kindly supported by the The Heritage Council Community Grant scheme and Offaly County Council, aimed to conserve the failing roof of the mausoleum of St Brendan's medieval church. This is another important step toward ultimately seeing the site re-opened to the public. Works, under licence to the National Monuments Service, were undertaken by Padraig McIntyre and team and overseen by Conservation Engineers Chris Southgate and Associates. Fabulous to see the damage caused by water ingress and vegetation fully reversed. Birr 20:20 Vision is looking to supporting and promoting further work at the site in 2025… watch this space.
