Kieran White – 25 Years with the Ashley Martin Family 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Kieran, who joined Ashley Martin on the 12th March 2001, as a second year apprentice. At the time the team was around 50 people, and the business was entering an exciting new chapter with the arrival of our first CNC machine, bringing new technology that would change how we produce our work.

Over the years Kieran has progressed from apprentice to joiner, and then senior joiner, and more recently has taken on the role of internal training coordinator, working alongside our senior joiners to help support and guide the next generation of team.

Kieran is widely respected for his skill and craftsmanship, and for the consistently high standard of work he produces across the many projects he has been involved in over the years. He still remembers one of his first projects with us, McElhinney’s Department Store, where he helped deliver a major interior refurbishment across the store.

Since then he has worked on a wide range of projects coming through the workshop, including department stores such as Debenhams, Brown Thomas, Arnotts and Harrods, as well as beauty brands including Lancôme, Clinique, Dior and Clarins, and hundreds of pharmacies throughout Ireland.

One project that stands out for Kieran in recent years was Brown Thomas, where the team delivered a full department store refit. With tight deadlines and high-end bespoke finishes required throughout, it was a project that really showcased the skill and teamwork across the company.

Those who work alongside Kieran will tell you that what really stands out is how supportive he is. He’s always willing to take the time to help others, share advice and pass on his knowledge. Nothing is ever a bother and he’s always ready to lend a hand, while keeping the craic going in the workshop.

Ashley Martin has also seen Kieran’s family spend time working in the business, including his daughter and two sons. Keelan, who works on the CNC, has now been a valued part of the team for seven years.

When asked what has kept him with the company for so long, Kieran put it simply - he enjoys the work, it’s a good company to work for, and it’s the team around him. Over the years he’s built some great friendships and shared plenty of good times along the way.

Congratulations to everyone at Adrian Dunne Pharmacy Rush on the opening of their fantastic new shop.

We were delighted to act as the main contractor on this project, delivering the full transformation from start to finish, including building, electrical and interior works.

Ashley Martin has proudly worked with the Adrian Dunne Group for over 25 years, creating unique pharmacy spaces together, and we’re delighted to continue this long-standing partnership.

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone for Eamon McDonald – 30 years with the Ashley Martin family. 🎉

Eamon joined the business on 4th March 1996 in Carndonagh, when Ashley Martin was a much smaller team of around 20 people. Many of the colleagues he started working with back then are still part of the team today, something we’re very proud of.

Before joining Ashley Martin, Eamon worked for many years as a skilled boat builder, spending much of his time in the boatyard. He had also studied chemistry in college, developing the analytical thinking and attention to detail that still shapes his work today.

Eamon told us that during his early conversations with Ashley Martin, John rang him about the job, but Eamon’s daughter answered the phone and had the first interview for him. She clearly had great things to say about her dad, as once Eamon got on the phone, John asked him to start right away.

Over the years Eamon has seen huge changes within the factory, particularly in machinery and processes. He joined the business as a qualified joiner before moving onto the machines, where he became known for his skill, his ability to break down units, analyse how things work and solve problems, always with a great eye for detail and precision.

Eamon’s colleagues describe him as cool as ice — an incredible problem solver whose standard of work never dips below 100%. A true gentleman, craftsman and wood machinist, he can turn his hand to any tool with exceptional attention to detail. Over the years, Eamon has contributed his skills to many of our top-end projects for brands including Dior, Clinique, Clarins and MFK, to name just a few.

Always happy to share his knowledge and experience, Eamon has supported many colleagues over the years, whether that’s helping solve a tricky problem or passing on the skills he’s built through decades of craftsmanship. His experience and eye for detail are relied on across the workshop. And if you ever hear a bit of air guitar and singing in the background, you’ll know everything is running smoothly. 🎸

Eamon says he has spent the best years of his life at Ashley Martin and would like to thank John and Marie for the opportunity. It has been a pleasure to be part of a great team and to see the company grow over the years.

Today we’re celebrating Joseph Mc Colgan — 40 years with the Ashley Martin family. 🎉

Joseph started on 17th February 1986 as an apprentice joiner with Company Director John, back when we were Store Fit International in Redcastle.

The team back then?
John, Joseph and fellow apprentice Stephen (now our GM!), with John’s dad Phil, “the Gaffer” — keeping them all in check, and mum Rose behind the scenes sewing and keeping the tea flowing.

In 1987, Joseph moved with the business to Carndonagh, and he has been a driving force ever since. From apprentice joiner to production manager — taking on roles including joiner, machine operator, stores person, spray technician, lorry driver, site foreman, workshop foreman and production assistant along the way. Over the years, Joseph has trained and mentored so many of our team, embraced innovation and helped shape Ashley Martin into the company we are today.

When we asked Joseph what has kept him at Ashley Martin for 40 years, he said:

“Every day since I started, I do something different. There’s always a new challenge, and I love that. Ashley Martin is like a big family, John and Marie have always supported me. I genuinely enjoy coming to work each day.”

He was once told, “It’s important to enjoy the work that you do.”
Forty years later — he’s still doing exactly that.
