Crystal Air is back for the second time to raise money for the Mater Hospital after a very successful year last year.

With some past competitors and some enthusiastic new ones, we aim to raise more than we did last year which was a brilliant €3.5k.

The roadshows

⚡️EirGrid Group has embarked on a year-long series of citizens roadshow events aimed at informing local communities on how the organisation plans to future-proof the electricity grid as well as providing information about microgeneration, home energy upgrades and retrofitting grants, and regional development issues.

The roadshows follow on from last year’s Shaping Our Electricity
Future consultation programme during which EirGrid sought views and inputs from all sectors of society and industry about grid development.

Individual controllers, based on the iPhone layout for intuitive use, were also installed in each room.

These can be connected to the MELCloud app, used to control and monitor Mitsubishi Electric products remotely, and smartphones via Bluetooth.

One major cost-saving benefit is that there is no need for leak detection. 🚀

The scale of the project took in 💪🏽500 guest rooms and 20 meeting rooms, including the conference hall with seating for 1,000 delegates.

The Hybrid system was a perfect solution, with its unique 2-pipe system allowing for simultaneous heating and cooling with heat recovery, and the combination of R410a refrigerant. Overall, the systems save around 30-40% in refrigerant use when compared to traditional VRF systems.

As water is used as the heat transfer vehicle, refrigerant only enters the Hybrid Branch Controller (HBC) boxes, of which there are 50 on the project, rather than any of the hundreds of guest rooms.

First built in 1972 the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road the main structure of the hotel has seen significant additions and refurbishments over the years.

The Dalata Hotel Group, owners of the hotel, saw an opportunity to fully upgrade the comfort levels of guestswhile ensuring the hotel was future-proofed from a legislation and environmental viewpoint.

Crucially, with hotel room space demand at an all-time high in Dublin, the refurbishment and installation of the new air conditioning system could not impact on the daily operations of the hotel.

The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is a landmark hotel situated in the leafy outskirts of Dublin city centre.

With the heart of the city’s shops, offices, sports and entertainment venues only a short walk away the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road is an iconic of the city with guests experiencing a high level of comfort and service during their stay.

🤝 The installation was in 13 phases with 50 rooms per phase, allowing the hotel to remain open during the process.
