If I was finishing up my four years in an apprenticeship, or working in a company but itching to start my own thing, this is the first piece of advice I’d give… because it’s exactly how I started Koncept Construction.
Don’t wait for the “perfect time.”
There is no perfect time.
There’s only your time.
I began with small jobs, late nights, and saying yes to any opportunity that helped me learn. I focused on turning every client into a referral, documenting everything I did, and building a reputation long before I had a full team or a full schedule.
The steps are simple — not easy, but simple:
1. Start taking on small jobs outside your main hours.
2. Deliver quality that speaks for itself.
3. Build trust with every client you meet.
4. Grow slow, steady, and with intention.
5. Reinvent yourself along the way — your standards will become your foundation.
If you’re thinking of going out on your own, back yourself.
You’ll never feel “ready,” but you’ll always regret not trying.
Koncept Construction started exactly where you are now — with a skillset, a work ethic, and the ambition to do more.
